Down shifting with no throttle and up shift with at least 30% to smooth things out. And it's definitely a sport tour or street sport, not a super sport. Good review. I like hearing honest people if they dont like a bike. It helps find weak spots that lead to improvements.

I appreciate you sharing your insights and I'm with you. I enjoy trying and sharing the experience of bikes but I enjoy hearing and speaking to other riders about how they feel also. I think it would be great for the manufacturers to get actual real world feedback from riders to make things even better than they are now.

Miss my SV650. Had the original 99, bought it brand new and had her for 5 years. I want another one for my short commute (2nd bike) of 7 miles. I have a Hayabusa but sometimes I just don't want to drag it out of the garage for such a short trip to work.

I can understand how you feel on that. I have a few different bikes but always go for my little 450 for shorter rides for the same reason. Plus I like it. I did get to ride a friends on track for a session and really enjoyed it. So many options in bikes and after riding a few sv650s now I absolutely understand the reasons people love them so much.

I do understand that individuals are upset about some of the corporate initiatives. However, I personally care more about the workmanship of the bikes. How they feel to ride and the quality of the machine. While nothing is perfect, I know 3 people that work for HD manufacturing, and they take pride in their work, and they are also happy with the jobs they have. Do I agree with all the policies they have initiated no(I'm a rural country boy) but I wouldn't marginalize anyone and want to see more people riding bikes than less. I don't care about peoples personal lives myself as it doesn't impact me.

Why is it that you pay $1350 to get the blacked out version. However, you find there are chrome opening levers on the saddlebags? Maybe because the want to rip you off at the parts counter for black ones post purchase. I was really getting fed up with the heel shifter coming as standard equipment! Happy to see Harley answered my prayers and made it another costly option.

Sounds like you have a solid path forward to me. Starting small gives you a buffer to get used to 2 wheels. Lets you practice get comfortable plus its not that expensive. I wonder what the dealer says if a bad review is ever given for a bike? I think dealerships that let people ride bikes for reviews have certain expectations.
@MotorcycleDemoRiders
@MotorcycleDemoRiders 9 күн бұрын
I've not had that experience from Triumph Waukesha, Randy's Cycle, Starved Rock HD/KTM, or Top Gear Powersports. None of them have ever said to me or implied that it must be a good review. I can say that I haven't always had glowing thoughts of every bike from them and never had them say anything. Its my personal thoughts and feelings, but they are getting the promotion about being a dealership that is rider focused. You want to try a bike go to these dealers, and they will work with you. They care about riders' feelings, good and bad. If I find more I will add them to the list.

Do you have to use high octane fuel because of the high compression???
@MotorcycleDemoRiders
@MotorcycleDemoRiders 10 күн бұрын
Yes. The minimum rated fuel in the manual is 91 octane or 95 RON. While it isn't necessary I always run 93 if possible, on all my bikes. Nobody wants to deal with premature detonation. That said in a pinch it 87 would get you home without an issue but I wouldn't want to use less than the minimum unless I had no other option.

@@MotorcycleDemoRidersinteresting. I decided to get a Honda grom as a starter bike to learn the ropes. Already did safety course and got motorcycle endorsement. I already see myself wanting to upgrade after a season. The grom just doesn't inspire confidence in road driving. Beyond 25mph in my experience. A used z650 looks very appealing to me. From what I read it's fairly compact for it's displacement (this is important so I can fit it in my garage). Also it's for leisure ride mostly town driving, errands, occasional work commute. I'm 5'10" 185lb with a decent build. I sat on a mt07 and it felt good, but the used prices on those are too high. I also think z650 looks better. Thoughts? ..
@MotorcycleDemoRiders
@MotorcycleDemoRiders 9 күн бұрын
For what you are looking for and coming from the z650 and mt07 would definitely feel great. The z650 is 2 inches shorter but has a slightly larger wheelbase. I haven't been looking recently at the used market but it doesn't surprise me that the MT-07 is more expensive. All in all if you can find a good priced z650 it would be a great bike and I think you would enjoy it. All that matters in the end is that you like your bike and it does what you need it to do. Would love to hear your thoughts on the z650 if you get one so please don't hesitate to share your feelings

easy way to fix the vibe issue. Shift up. I generally shift much earlier if im just cruising. Only time i rev it is if im accelerating. At 70 it will sit round 4.5k rpm and you wont know if your bike is even on. It still has enough grunt to pass or just click down on the quick shift 2x and jump into hyperspace.
@PaulKind3d
@PaulKind3d 13 күн бұрын
lol, i mean you are cruising around talking about vibes running her at 50 in 2nd. I know this bike, you really dont need to rev it so high if you are cruising. One or two clicks up and the bike has plenty of grunt and no vibes.

Appreciate you for taking the time to share your experience with this model. You are correct in regards to shifting up and getting the rpm's below 5 to 6k does minimize the vibes. When I first ride a bike I tend to try and get the full feeling and don't like to shift unless I need too. I did get to try the 24 which I felt was better that the Ninja 1000SX. Same bike but the Quick Shifter felt a little more refined so some ECU adjustments. It's an exceptional bike to ride all around with a really strong and reliable engine. Tell you what, the CFmoto SR- series is tops!! Seriously !! I am amazed at the quality these bikes come out with. The price is spec😅!! Of course there are bikes out there that are crazy fast, but these beautiful looking bikes are much safer in that respect... In the Twisties it's a gem. The acceleration is perfect for our use. And the CST tires are surprisingly sticky. I take my lean angle to max - 1/4 of a chicken strip on the rear, and 1/8 in the front tire. The position being less aggressive than most super bike types. Very comfortable in my opinion, I'm 5'9" 175 lbs. Fits me nicely. I'm 63 by the way, and had my share of Ducati, Kawasaki, Yamaha sport bikes and there's something About going back to a smaller, lighter, and way more controllable bike that feels like, well, "bliss"😊 Safe riding bud, a hello from Madrid, Spain .👍

I owned this bike for about a month - thought I’d pick it up to get back into riding (10 years away, but 10 years of previous experience). For the money, the build quality is excellent, the bike looks incredible, the riding position is sublime. The only real issue I had was the clutch - my hand would be SORE after riding from how hard the clutch is to pull compared to anything else I’ve ridden. The torque also left a lot to be desired, but I think that’s only because of my past experience. If I was new to riding, this would for sure be an excellent first or second bike.

It took me more than 15 minutes to know how to work upshifting/downshifting on the bike. It seems like you always have to be on the throttle and if you are not, use the clutch. Also to change modes on the fly you have to close the throttle. Agree that the downshifts could be better.
@MotorcycleDemoRiders
@MotorcycleDemoRiders 19 күн бұрын
Yeah on the upshifts you do need to have the throttle open for it to work. I've experienced a lot of Quickshifters and Parallel Twins are never perfect with a quickshifter for some reason. Not sure why exactly honestly. Downshifting requires off throttle but the system has to rev match also so thats a software timing thing. I have no doubt that they will refine the system and just make it a little better over the coming model years.

Most of the time a simple how are you doing and can I be of any assistance is all it takes. Just the acknowledgement does go a long way at a Demo Truck Event. I have done a few in my time and most dealers have good representation out front ready to ask anyone if they have any questions or to just get the feedback on how the ride was. Riders are very willing to talk about the bike they just rode in my experience. Hell a few are ready to buy right away also. This just ruffled my feathers a bit. @@paulb_614 The Piaggio Group has a few different Brands in the lineup. I didn't even realize how many they have. Aprilia, Piaggio, Vespa, Scarabeo, Derbi, Laverda, Moto Guzzi and a commercial vehicle division. Sadly even with all of these brands they only hold like 2% of the 2-Wheels market share but are making some really cool machines. I did get to try my first Moto Guzzi bikes also and was impressed overall with them. Quirky and not flawless but the transverse V-Twin was interesting to try out.

I have own a 2017 for a few months now and I ride it every chance I get, I love it in every way, but I don’t think it is worth $12k. Now that I have experienced it, I wouldn’t invest such a capital in such an entry level toy, all you paying for is nostalgia and brand recognition but nothing more, it is a stripped down to the basics machine no frills or fancy thrills. The engine reminds me a lot of a sportsters 883, it is a torque tractor that loves to chew up hills but has no top end so forget about overtaking cars on a divided two lanes roads, you pop down a gear and nothing happens. The biggest limitation I am finding on this bike is comfort, am an all day rider, I can take off on a Saturday morning and ride all day, stop for lunch, and then ride all afternoon until 7pm, I find the bike suspension weird, and the seat uncomfortable, mine came with two seats, stock seat plus a British Custom bench seat, plus I add a gel madd dog pad, it doesn’t matter, after an hour I need to start sliding around the seat, switching buns, doing all kinds tricks to help me coup with pain and numbness on my buns. Next area of discomfort has been the grips, my hands get numb, it is not a vibration machine, I added thicker grips, I tried to bend my elbows and relax my grip, I have tried all tricks I know, but my hands still get numb after a while, maybe it is just me, am 45 so am getting up there. Conclusion, this is more of a Sunday short ride on a relax country road type of bike, don’t get any idea of long touring. Before this I had a 2013 Suzuki SVF650, all stock, I would do the same long rides with no discomfort at all, the only limitations was the small gas tank, I had to stop every 100 miles for fuel. I traded that for a 2018 Kawasaki Versys which had a 5 gallon fuel tank, better suspension, better brakes, but no engine growl, no character, I hated the personality of that parallel engine, and gear box, I always felt a gear too high or too low, but that engine was never happy and felt very lazy unless you were at really high RPMs breaking the law. Here comes the scrambler, full of character and plenty of grunt at low RPM so it always feels good at take off but it dies off pretty quickly. As you can see, there is no perfect bike. Another failure of the Versys was the gear lever mechanism, it rotates inside the foot peg, so it can get hard and clunky to shift, not the transmission fault, just the shifting lever, known issue. I don’t know what to get next.

I greatly appreciate you sharing your experiences with all of the models you listed. This is very helpful to others and again I thank you. Oh, that 649cc parallel twin from Kawasaki is a very boring engine in my opinion. You aren't wrong in regard to the low-down grunt of the triumph 900 engine but as you say top end is nonexistent. You are paying for the name with the triumph no doubt but in the scrambler market I really enjoyed riding the rNineT Scrambler. Have you taken a look at that model?

@@MotorcycleDemoRiders I been checking out the retro regular, now I am going to do a search for the scrambler... Never owned a BMW before, if I ever do, I hope I get the same satisfaction as I got riding a Triumph for the first time.
