Does one need to be StoryBrand certified to apply and reference the framework when working with clients? For example can I mention in my marketing that I design and build StoryBrand structured websites?

First step, character, you only addressed the problem (step 2) and success (7), but not he actual character.

Shondell is an amazing ghost copywriter , great interview, data collection using a 7 page information, what are the pain points, what are they asking, then an outline of a year's worth of consistent content, using keywords to build value, to give them what they want by knowing them and that is a long game....use Facebook or LinkedIn groups to listen, for misconceptions and questions and content around that

Well it is the Wild West. So we are still trying to figure things out. So here is my take. Your example of company A (1000 clients) and company B (100) clients is IMHO faulty, because you need to first find out what the average of people switching brands in that specific industry is. 5% could still be terrible if companies of similar size only have 3%. The toothpaste industry could have a higher fluctation then the deoderent industry. Both products are used quite often but the toothpaste has less social consequences than deoderant. Each industry has their specific traits and so do we humans. Frequency is also not applicable accros all industries. I would claim that the soda industry has one of the highest frequency. Still you will find a low switch rate from Coca Cola to Pepsi in comparison to toothpaste. I also do not see size being a factor. Porsche will have a higher retention percentage than Toyota. I believe that you are seeing this too much from a sales person's perspective than a marketing perspective. A good sales person always wants to make an easy and quick sell, while a marketing person will try to setup a system that the product will sell on its own (like Story Brand tries to do). Marketing is a lot more complicated then just selling. That is why it is easier to get good sales people in comparison to getting good marketing people. It is also easier to measure the productivity of a sales person in comparison to a marketing person.

Hey Thomas! You’re spot on with the observation that each industry will have different rates of switching. And yes, marketing is very complicated. Especially since a good portion of it is about building memories - which makes measuring the productivity of marketing difficult. Regarding the size of the company being a factor in loyalty and defection rates, it is hard to believe (and a bit counterintuitive), but the data is clear: loyalty and defection rates are dependent on market share. We wish it wasn’t true! But it has been validated in company after company and industry after industry to the point that it is actually a marketing law: The Double Jeopardy Law. Of course, as you pointed out, each industry will have different rates (cars and toothpaste are bought at different frequencies and have different industry rates of purchasing and defection). But, the truth remains that smaller brands have fewer customers and lose a larger percentage of them than large brands (this is the Retention Double Jeopardy Law of marketing). Keep up the critical thinking! Loved the comment and thought process!

What about a Blue Yeti with a Krisp noise cancelling software?

We don't have direct experience with that specific microphone, but it looks like it has great reviews. Noise cancelling software is never a bad idea. If you try it out, we'd love to hear how it works!
