Some of these computer player scripts "taught" me some really weird and destructive habits for starting out a match, because I had no idea what I was doing and ANYTHING that seemed "confident" and "proactive" right out of the gate felt intimidating and like maybe it was being done with some sense of purpose I could only vaguely begin to grasp and hoped to imitate. :3

Make sure the dash jump conditions match and don't let go of the directional button. (And if the water is missing, the lower jump for the Heart Tank will be totally impossible. You can access the mini-boss fight for the Light Capsule regardless of any outside conditions, though.)

It's actually possible to eliminate panic mode music change, and I'd probably do that for most cases as something I'd always wished was possible in the original games. I would generally NOT raise my stack high enough to trigger it so I could attempt to get through the much longer regular theme music before it inevitably gets triggered by one player or the other trying to murder each other... STILL almost impossible to complete a single loop of any given song. :P (Listen. This is the LEAST weird and MOST presentable thing I could choose to deflect from my lack of useful behaviors of late. :3)

Don't even think he's insane at all. A bit too paranoid maybe but considering you got convicts riding around killing people in the park, a chainsaw juggling clown, a Vietnam vet going through a PTSD episode, etc. It makes sense not to trust people and give them your guns. Those with the guns would hold all of the power. Then again the survivor was right that they need guns to fight off the zombies. One of the more sad boss fights, nobody needed to die

@@YuuGiJoou Oh I agree, I think Jeremy Blaustein's translation--corny and inaccurate though it may be--is, by far, more memorable. It's also, ironically, a tad less corny than the accurate translation! Still, it was nice to see at least a solid version of the accurate translation in English. I think the voice actors here did the best job that anybody could do with the dialogue, considering how hammy it is.

I certainly enjoy hearing when the descriptions resonate well with people reading them, because despite being fairly low on the list of reasons people visit KZfaq, it's certainly one of my favorite parts of video publication. I mean, right after the games part. I like them more. It's just not a fair contest is all. :3 Lumines is a weird, haunting game... built to exploit the parts of your subconscious responsible for the so-called Tetris effect AND earworm phenomena in tandem. I love hate love love hate hate love love love it.

Everything from player inputs to boss behavior in general are weird in old games like these, which can result in drastically different exchanges within even the same encounter. I replayed this game very recently, and looking back at this, I am also quite surprised how quickly the Abobos went down, but all it really needs is you winning more exchanges in attacks than any enemy does to get the results you desire. In particular, the flying knee attack is insanely powerful, so just landing one will utterly decimate nearly every enemy in the game, putting even bosses easily dispatched with any further attacks you might choose to utilize. (Very few can survive a second at all, not counting strange outlier mechanics like Burnov's regeneration.) The important thing is just playing the game, because you like the way it and its combat feels. After that, improvement in your own natural style and how it impacts the enemies will happen more or less independently. You can always improve! Figure out what parts of combat are most satisfying to you, and you will be able to target applying them more frequently and effectively!
