Excellent video......good camera work....narrative is superb, really excellent. I might suggest that you slow the narrative down a little so that I have a little bit of time to process and understand what you are saying. I haven't seen any videos on this type of material that were better than this one.....really

Factory workshop manual for '99 dyna had an error. Exhaust flange lower torque to 10 ft lbs first. It's 100% 10 in lbs (given in metric as 1 nm which is correct) then 60-80 in lbs for both. I made a tool from 2" aluminium bar to press the exhaust gaskets in, they are made of soft cheese. ¼" 20 tpi tap to chase out the old thread lock if the cover has been off a few times.

So it seems that the the ultimate issue was a gummed up cold start valve? Was the brand new thermotime switch non-functional?
@delorean1
@delorean1 Күн бұрын
I will be conducting some further tests on the new switch, connected externally in ice water to test if it functions. I didnt want to loose focus on the troubleshooting by spending too much time on the new switch.

Great detailed video of how some basic maintenance should be performed. Your clean out of the oil tank is identical to what I've done on my '79 Fxef since it was purchased new. The inside of my oil tank looks brand new, despite being 45 yrs old. I would make 1 suggestion while watching you work, & that is to wear gloves (vinyl, nitrile, latex, etc) to protect your health and keep oil & chemicals from contacting your skin. Any of those substances can / will be absorbed into your skin & can eventually enter your bloodstream. Not a good thing, & easily avoidable. Keep up the good work in producing your detailed & informative videos.Thanks for taking the time & effort in producing them.

Great job! I’ve been watching your videos while rebuilding my ‘84 FLH. Between you, Pacific Mike, Tatro Machine and a few others I’ve gained knowledge it would have taken years to acquire otherwise. Thanks for taking time to record your work for the rest of us to benefit from. Enjoy the miles!

Great videos! But now I ran into a problem maybe you can tell me where I went wrong. I started this project to replace oil pump thought it had gone out originally. Come to find out it was one of the tensioners. Followed along with you to replace mine on my 05 superglide fxdi. I got everything put together and tried priming as you did but wasn't getting pressure. Got the gauge out etc. Unbolted everything all over again. I had my wave washer in the pump in wrong position. Fixed that bolt everything back up. Got oil pressure now but not firing. Has a weird hollowish tone to it when it cranks. Gonna take it all back down a 3rd time but hoping maybe you have an idea on what to look into as I tear it down. Any advise would be appreciated.

I don't understand which cylinder you're pulling the rockerbox off first because it was a demonstration on the front cylinder and then. You set repeat the process and do the back cylinder but you took the back cylinder rocker box off before the front.

Excellent content. What's not to like? Subscribed. A TC88 is for life, take the rough with the smooth. Had a 1340 fxdl for around 10 years, wasn't going to go with the TC but got a '99 FXDL as a full restore project. Best video I've seen but I would lock the inner tensioner from the outside to aid cam install,lower back down gently.
