Nice hunt! I've been playing MR with only HR armor and weapons for a while now, but I was worried I wouldn't be able to hit Alatreon's elemental checks. This gives me some hope lol

I hit 1041 damage in a single swing yesterday. FC heroics SnS vs alatreon is something else. I'd highly recommend getting used to guarding into perfect rush. It allows you to punish openings that would otherwise be pretty minimal. (Also, slinger burst into PR is a handy tool).

The only version of sns I liked was in MHGU, Alchemy Style. I'm just not a fan of perfect rush tbh.

I’ve also done playthroughs with all weapons world to iceborne and I kinda agree to most. IG could actually be fun but it relies so much on armor, decos and kinsect builds. Playing early to mid game with IG feels like hell, the amount of scaling late game IG has against early game LS has actually the same damage which is absurd. Bow and DB might be the best DPS but also deco heavy, it’s illegal to make mighty bow, forceshot and spread rarity 8 which makes it leagues harder to unlock and is essential for a viable build. DB, I guess it’s hard to get elemental decos to min max or just craft element charms. Switch axe, LS, GS, Gunlance and lance very braindead to use. Looks cool, sometimes fun but you feel overpowered from start to finish, you can practically use any deco for a min max build. Hbg lbg delete from the game, no comment on how boring playing it start to finish since sticky, pierce and spread are the only viable options. Bowgun mods are nonexistent and special ammo should be more viable to use. SA and CB might be the weapons that are difficult to master but are fun to use even if you’re a beginner. The amount of learning curve makes it fun when you actually execute a decent combo. SnS I think close to bow and DB but not that element heavy, for me the most basic weapon, the playthrough where I discovered that poison element is Godly mid to late game.

Ya they gave it the perfect rush which does literally 1-2K per rush, mad amounts of versatility, mad amounts of I frames, has both blunt and slash dmg, can KO monsters, master of none. But they fucked it up in rise.

I have been SLEEPING on the sns but i recently just picked it up and have been having a Blast just got into iceborne

Besides gunlance glitch sword and shield is THEE most powerful melee weapon for a fact, it hits the numbers a GS does but faster, maybe ist BC I am more involved in the speed run community but this isn’t new. Not trying to spread any kind of hate so don’t take this the wrong way bro!!

Alatreon is definitely one of SnS best matchups. It absolutely dumpsters him. In fact SnS is one of the fastest weapons to use to Speedrun Alatreon. The only weapon that can kill Alatreon faster than SnS is the HBG. If you thought the damage you were doing in this video was a lot, just wait till you see the damage an optimized heroics build does against Alatreon. We are talking a single perfect rush combo doing over 5000 damage. With all the large punish windows that Alatreon has, it is incredibly easy to just spam perfect rush over and over and just bully him.

Block into perfect rush is so good. You can spam perfect rush by doing that no need to do a basic hit to start the combo.

SnS is maybe the most fun weapon in the game. So many options and so much flexibility it's crazy

Yep. And I started in Rise, so it was not the default weapon for me. I played LS for a couple hundred hours, then tried a bunch of other weapons, but when I found S&S I never stopped using it, all through Rise, Sunbreak and then through all of World and Iceborne.

people do talk about SNS.. Its just not GU anymore. Even then its still always been massively underrated in future games bc it didnt anything overly compensating like some other weapons. Tbh, sunbreak it didnt get a huge improvement from its base design in rise and it still deserved more credit.

SnS my beloved I think Iceborne's SnS is probably my favorite iteration of the weapon with GU being second. It just feels smooth to use in this game with the combos into perfect rush.
