Agreed, if your on thytoid meds now it would be the best. BUT, studies say that you do not need radioactive iodine before or after. Research it because you are your best advocate. Also, B1 vitamin is usually needed if you have thyroid disease. My son who is 27 and I both suffer from this but he has a nodule they are watching. Thank you.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Did you or anyone feel like you had an upset stomach a few months after the removal? I just feel off after mine. The Levothyroxine has been increased for me a month after the surgery. I’m curious if anyone else has gone through the same thing. I put on a few pounds but have been exercising. I was always cold before the surgery and am still cold all the time. My face is fuller like I put on a lot of weight but I think I look healthier than before the surgery. Are there any social media thyroid forums out there where we can ask questions? Sorry for all of the questions. I just feel like my Endocrinologist is very vague when it comes to a few of my questions. I’m want to meet more people on forums like this and hear about their challenges and ways they fixed them. Food has been a huge factor for me. Completely cutting out sugar, gluten and dairy has helped. Now I need to figure out how to manage work stress. My diagnosis all started because I lost almost all the hair on my body. My entire beard and hair on my head is still gone. They diagnosed me with Hashimoto and decided to do an ultrasound on my thyroid. They eventually found cancer and it spread to my surrounding lymph nodes but not in the soft tissue. The cancer had been there for a while and the was very close to spreading throughout my body. I’m very fortunate. Now I need to navigate this new chapter. I appreciate your input. Great perspective!

That stuff does hurt I’m not about to sugar coat it ! When they poked you Ouch! Needle goes deep deeper deeper ouch ouch ouch! Now the numbing agent that burns well stings About 40 sec later it still burns and stings maybe a minute then it’s pressure all of a sudden and jab jab jab jab mine is so deep he had to numb me three times But it’s not that bad I have one Node VERY deep in. then pathologist came in after Dr is done with FNA and looked to see if he had enough cells the first go round , and thank God there were enough cells , dr wipes u off tell u how good you did , and to have a great day 10 min after even before u leave that exam room the numbing is worn off 🙄now the pressure pain begin the tenderness to touch begins Now you’re about to throb… eating was okay for me but swallowing liquid is a small amount of pain, took a nap and it’s hurting not tenderness hurting it actually hurt to move neck and touch to be expected 😊 good luck u got this

You just described my sleep. Surgery was 3 weeks ago.

Castor oil warm compresses.

I got one in March of 2023 and another in April a two week difference and the first time was good. But the second time around when they took out the needle I felt so much pressure on my neck and traps. My jaw also hurt real bad for several seconds. So I said, “why does my jaw hurt!” They said it was probably because they hit a nerve with the needle. Use castor oil to dissolve the nodules.

I am goin in for a thyroid ultrasound today and every time I eat I feel the need to clear my throat. Even liquids, other than water. I haven’t felt like I’m choking but I cough and clear my throat all the time. I know this is what I have and I really hope they can help me. My TSH was low but my T4 was normal.
