I *LOVE* this song and always wished it was used in more AMVs!!! This is absolutely adorable! Who said it has to be about a romantic relationship? This works perfectly! ❤ (Although, if you did want to edit a romance AMV with this song, may I suggest Marcille/Falin? 😅 Oooh…and I’d love to see an AMV using the song “Monster” (Demo) Feat. Aww thank you!! I’ve had this idea for ages (“I choose you,” c’mon, it’s a natural fit!) and I enjoyed finally putting it together. Oooo I was listening to Monster and the other Obsidian songs again not that long ago actually, but I hadn’t heard the demo version! I have some other ideas that I’m (slowly) working on, but I’ll keep that in mind 👀

@@aithamvIt really is a natural fit! I’m so happy you are a fan of Adventure Time and know the songs from Obsidian! I know it’s an obscure reference. The Demo version of Monster is my favorite. It has an extra verse, and a softer, more acoustic sound. I’m not 100% sure how well it fits Marcille and Falin’s relationship, but the concern about aging and feeling like a monster (an actual monster in Falin’s case, an outsider who is studying socially unacceptable magic in Marcille) could fit them quite well. Unfortunately, I have no video editing skills myself, but every time I hear a song, I think of what fandoms they could fit.

⁠⁠@@LillllllyI only started editing two years ago (started with a free ipad app), and before then I spent a very long time listening to music and going “man, I wish I knew how to make an amv for this.” I still don’t really know many advanced techniques, but I’ve had a lot of fun figuring things out as I go to actually make my ideas happen! There’s so much phenomenal music in Adventure Time ❤ “Monster” definitely has some lyrics that would need some…creative interpretations lol, but I think the soft, almost bittersweetness works really well for them-the feeling of alienation from the world and comfort in each other. I do love the idea of “I Choose You” for Farcille, but I’m not sure there’s enough fluffy, triumphant imagery in canon to fill the song without going into animatic territory (which I DEFINITELY don’t have the skills for hahah) or reeeeally dragging out some scenes. Alas, AMV woes-knowing something is conceptually great and not having the visual material to make it function. 😔

This is profound. I had never heard the song before, and it’s complex, poetic and beautiful. I love how you set it to the story of Laios and Marcille’s love for Falin and desperation to save her, whatever the cost. This is contrasted with the Dark Mage’s own tragic backstory and goals, and Falin, caught in the middle. She didn’t ask to be put on a pedestal. She didn’t ask to be saved, and she didn’t want to be used to hurt others.

"It's not JUST a comedic cooking show and it's not JUST a dramatic fantasy show. The tension and the interplay between those concepts are what makes it special." Glad I could find someone who could put the thing I was thinking about it into such good words. Kui strikes a great balance, as good of a balance as you could ask for IMO, between the light-hearted low-stakes elements that give us really great moments like Laios scaring away the sirens with his singing, along with the more heavy-hearted or high-stakes moments like Senshi and Marcille's big moments at the end of the first season. Can't think of a time where the story transitioned from one to the other while being incredibly jarring or giving severe unintended emotional whiplash. Dungeon Meshi gradually integrating darker and scarier elements as time goes by is bolstered by the fact that Kui's infectious humor persists throughout(love you Kabru and Mithrun), without generally overshadowing big moments and vice versa. Heck sometimes she does both like with what happens with Marcille near the end of the series, twice now that I think about it. It's such a big reason I enjoy the series so much, and I think you hit a really compelling combination of intriguing mystique alongside the adventure and comradery. This feels like a really great preview or teaser in a way. Great stuff.

HOLY SHIT this is so good!! This is such a good song for Falin (and really all of the different characters you put into this). Love the dichotomy of Chilchuck admitting he cares about the party and Laios + Shuro duking it out, all the tender and hopeful moments, the memories and imaginings of what she was like vs the angst and isolation Falin must be going through...

love this soooo much!!! totally agree with you in terms of wanting somewhat more from the OPs- striking that balance between silly, sweet, and morbid that dungeon meshi does so well. the editing on this is amazing, i love how pairing some shots together can recontextualize them a bit. prepping food > skinning and gutting animals, getting that carnal flavor, etc. and that last shot of the gang getting ready to eat themselves feels a little more sinister here, which i do love- i think the second OP is gonna shine especially well once we've got the whole show out, and everyone can appreciate the foreshadowing that imagery. oh, and the winged lion at the beginning!!! thats one thing i wish we got more in the OPs; i think there was one shot of its paws in the 1st, but i would have loved to see more imagery alluding to it, etc. although i can also understand the desire to avoid spoilers... hoping that the second season will present us with some awesome shots to compliment the insanity of back-half dunmeshi!!!

ohhhh this is so good and so tender... this song is sooo good for falin - you can really feel the affection of everyone for her but also the bittersweetness of it! loved the "you waited smiling for this?" shots of thistle smiling & kabru pointing at the chimera, the "talk about it" section hitting on different well-fitting characters and how well the falin part transitions into the haunting ending....
