Okay sewing terminology is not easy to understand for me it’s very confusing to me I get all mixed up so maybe you could help... I’m making a pleated bustier top the pleats being up and down I understand that the fabric has a little stretch salvage to salvage...I’m working with cotton..so for pleating the fabric is it torn parallel to the salvage am I getting this right? So for the circumference of the garment the less stretch the better for pleating? I’ve been researching all week trying to just figure out what way I cut the fabric please help I just want to start my project it’s a breeze for me past this lol

If you place your needle on top of the guide row to make the first cable do you continue each cable in that manner or do you place needle just below the guide row for next cable?

I bought one Martha Pullen sewing smocking 24 rows. But when I search where I can buy the needles, the seller told me is no 24 Martha Pull sewing is 16 rows. The question is where I bought he told me the Martha Pull is 24. I do not know any about this kind of sewing. I bought it for my sister who’s like to do this kind of work. Also i bought it with or needles so do I have to buy only needles what fix on this machine, hope you can resolver my questions

I agree with so many others. I do wish the picture was clearer as I can't tell when starting the 2nd row now it aligns with the first one.

How do you make a half cable stitch
@kimlightfoot3 жыл бұрын
Why would you not go to the next step after the french seam, and do it as a flat felled seam? then there is no chance the seam will twist in the pleater
@SewNso593 жыл бұрын
A flat-felled seam would cause a huge issue with the added stitching. I never sew flat-felled seams, especially in heirloom sewing. I don’t have any trouble with my seams twisting in the pleated...tiny French seams is the key.
@kimlightfoot3 жыл бұрын
@@SewNso59 thank you for clarifying that a felled seam would cause issues.

I watched on my iPhone u-tube app and wasn’t bothered by any blurriness that others commented about. Each skill was well explained with several close up opportunities of same skill. I’m getting back into smocking for my grandchildren after learning many years ago when I smocked for my two daughters and nephew. We are so fortunate that Laurie continues to share, teach, and inspire to keep us Smocking. 😁 FYI I would also check out her embroidery designs.
