Most people I’ve seen clean their vachetta always like to start with a conditioner just in case the leather is extremely dry. By adding water and a cleaner first you risk causing cracks in the leather, that’s why they recommend conditioner first, let it sit for a few hours or overnight, then proceed to clean. Now I’m confused. The problem with buying pre-owned is you never know how the previous owner treated their bag or what they put on it. Many are extremely dry which is why conditioning first makes sense to me. I’m glad this method works for you!
