I remember hearing this one at the Possum Corner open mic. I can't remember the name of the band that played it but I remember Glenn Schultz, and, a fiddler named Eric were in it. I can't remember the singer's name but she was terrific belting this one out of the park.

Hey Dean...yes that was a fun with the gang...the belting out singer was Glenn's wife Viki. She could sing a song. Their daughter Bree was our flute/pennywhistler and she was a nice singer as well. Glenn, Viki and Bree did a lovely song..."The Call and the Answer" Sadly, I don't believe we ever recorded it. I used sneak a little harmony in it when they weren't listening. It's a lovely song...I should record that sometime?

I remember Rich doing this song. Those were great open mics, a fun organization and I got introduced to a lot of great acts both professional and otherwise. I'm in a band now with one of Rich's old buddies, we have some great laughs reminiscing about him. I still call it "the Pony Boat Song."

Music in a show or .ovie is important. Movie soundtracks used to be half the enjoyment, but in the mid to late 80's, that changed. Since that time, there's been 2 really good "music for the scene " scenario's- this one - longmire with warren zevon's version of back in the high life, a d the ending scene in lethal weapon (2 i believe) in the shipyard with knocking on heavens door playing quietly in the background

My guess was that Loch Lomond preceded Red Is The Rose but didn't know for sure. Did a bit of quick research...Loch Lomond was first published in 1841. Red Is The Rose was published 1934. However, the Scottish and the Irish have strong traditions of songs and singing so its probable both songs preceded their actual publication.
