Summary Points: 1. The Institute Senate has an Institute Senate Affairs Committee (SSAC), which is the joint governing body. 2. The SSAC has two parts: the executing body (Student Gymkhana) and the non-executing body (Student Parliament). 3. All student-related decisions come under the parliament, which requires a 2/3 majority to create certain guidelines. 4. The parliament is responsible for catering to all students’ needs and addressing grievances on every platform. Festival guidelines can be reframed if 20% of the audience disagrees with them. 5. The parliament is also responsible for managing the expectations of students and the administration, understanding problems, and finding solutions. 6. The parliament consists of 53 members from various years and courses. The Vice President (VP) is elected by these members, and the Assistant Vice President (AVP) is decided by the VP. 7. There are 13 committees in the student parliament, each with 10-12 member representatives. The members then vote for them. The convenor of each committee, except for the Finance Committee, is decided by the members. For the Finance Committee, all 53 members vote for the convenor. 8. The parliament also oversees several disciplinary committees and cells, each with specific responsibilities and domains. 9. Any changes in the constitution of any cell in the institute must be passed by the student parliament and then sent to the institute senate for approval from the faculty in charge of the specific cell. 10. The parliament aims to make people aware of procedures and encourages an open mindset among students.
