Finally the info I needed! Thank you. Those Craftsman 3-packs are $26 at Ace Hdwe! Seems ridiculous to me when you ought to be able to rewind them yourself. Now do they have to be so precisely rewound?
@FixEverythingYourself3 сағат бұрын
They don't have to be wound perfectly but if the string isn't wound neatly, the layers of string tend to bind the string in place and it won't release all the time. So it's usually worth the extra minute or two to wind it neatly.
@Salamon_Zsolt5 сағат бұрын
What is the maximum with of the string which can be applied? On the product description it says 2mm maximum, if ghats so I’m not really sure if this can handle heavy grass.

Thank you for a great video. You could also use a grip strap wrench like those used to unscrew engine oil filters.

What if you don't have a drill. The maintenance in the Apt complex won't do it ! I guess just use draino or bleach !
@FixEverythingYourselfКүн бұрын
A screwdriver will work if you're referring to how to remove the screws over the drain. Otherwise, Drano might fix it.

Sometimes the string gets pinched on itself when being wound and won't release. I'd just remove the string and reload it.

This fixed my mower. I couldn’t get the 1/2 bolt out. With the 9/16 out I was able to rotate the top plate, that exposed the grove that was packed with dirt. With a long flat screwdriver I cleaned everything I could get to. It helped to turn the steering to the right that exposed more of the groove.

Why is this necessary? I have the same exact head and you can load fresh string without taking it apart. I’ve had mine about 3 years and never had to take it apart and the bump function always works.
@FixEverythingYourself2 күн бұрын
It's not uncommon for string to get stuck inside, either because it gets wound too tight or because one end of the string breaks and no longer extends from bumping.

You didn't show us, how to open the head to remove the old string. I never saw your link. I see no way that the head just opens up. If this was my trimmer, I would have already returned it.
Or this if it's too hard to open: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q7SIp7KX09HZY2g.html

What is the purpose of the shut off valve that runs from filter into the pool?
@FixEverythingYourself5 күн бұрын
That's so you can stop the flow of water that will flow back to the pump (due to gravity) when opening the pump to remove the filter.

When you complete the winding the string and keeping it tight, when do you release the string? It unwinds itself when you put the cap on?
@FixEverythingYourself5 күн бұрын
I keep the string taut even while I'm putting the cap on. I don't let go until the cap clicks in place.

Very interesting test. Are you up for a collaboration to also talk about gasoline outdoor power equipment? Hipa supplies high quality affordable parts for DIY repairers and maybe we could collaborate to help the novices to get their equipment repaired by themselves easier? You get the knowledge of small engine repair and hipa gets the good quality parts. I'm sure this collaboration can help lots of DIY repairers.

Thanks so much for the video!!! I have a Craftsman T110 and it's been a fixer upper since day 1, but my brother gave it to me for free, so I really can't complain. It started not turning left the last time I mowed and I also broke the PTO cable, so it has been sitting while I waited for the new cable to be delivered. Got it installed today and figured I'd check KZfaq for any solutions to the turning problem. Followed your steps and sure enough the channel was packed with hard gunk. Cleaned everything and reinstalled everything and BAM!! It now turns better than ever!!! As a 45yo woman who doesn't have anyone to help me, I was able to do both the PTO cable and the steering gears myself in under 4 hours!!! (On a gravel driveway, no shade, 100 degrees and humid here in GA, and frequent water breaks 🙋🏼♀️🥵) I can't express how happy I am to you !!!!!😁😁😁

It may open that easily when it’s brand new. But after it’s been used to a three times, it’s almost impossible to open. I’m not a small man and I am straining and I still can’t get it to budge.
@FixEverythingYourself6 күн бұрын
Workaround to opening it is shown in this video. I also show how to solve it long-term. If yours is just overly dirty, cleaning out the dirt and debris MIGHT solve that but probably not. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q7SIp7KX09HZY2g.html

Good review! I've had one of these for several years and my teenage stepson beat the snot out of it, so it's time to get a replacement. The grass guard is gone and the line feed doesn't work, but it still cuts the weeds! I paid $100 when I got it, but they're down to just $40 now. Might have to buy two! One thing about these Hyper Tough batteries is that the service life is awesome! I have a chainsaw, pole saw, leaf blower and the trimmer and interchange the batteries. The original batteries are over 5 years old and still charge normally and hold charge for a long time.

He’s rather go through a divorce than deal with it and we have FOUR young children living in this 4,600 sq ft house of HELL & HORRER now. I’m living my worst nightmare and with all of the flies (in all stages) sores/abscesses , losing the vision in my left eye, he STILL IGNORES IT AND DENIES IT. how can I get help for my family??
