Hi, I've been helping my friend mill some aluminum hubs with his Protrak. I was wondering how you ended up low on the first inspection. Was it programming or tool height error? We had to test everything multiple times, because on the KMX controll you set the Z offset on the base tool and all the others are relative to that height. Every time you turn off the machine the tools need reset 😂.

I'll have to look at why I did that in this case. You don't need a sketch to add a planar joint. Sounds like you are a fan of the SW guys. Don't you find it interesting that when the guys that built SW left and started Onshape and did the same joint type workflow instead of mates. Hmmmmm..........
@IAmTheVector

@@MechanicalAdvantage The only answer I have for this is proprietary software. I teach Fusion, Catia and Sw as well, the point is that only SW\Catia has an engineering way of treating joints. That's it. If you want to do something nearly professional of course. Fusion is for kids sw is for boys, catia is for men.
@MechanicalAdvantage

@IAmTheVector Sure it is. It has nothing to do with being proprietary. I really don’t how people get to be such a fanboi of products. It’s just software; it isn’t a religion. Maybe traditional constraints are now obsolete.

I just wish the interface wasn't laggy AF. You click in a box select drag and it hightlights the wrong direction or is wonky or its highlighted but the mouse isn't actually in that box so you type and then there's nothing registering so you have to reselect again nearly every time you select a box. Nutty. I've never used an app this laggy. Are they logging every click? If the box highlights it should AUTO SELECT everything in the box (like every other application that's ever been made) SO if I start typing it REPLACES whats there automatically. You have to manually highlight and if you move the mouse up or down too much it flips the select direction. This is just 1 super annoying issue that has been around for 5+ years?

It doesn’t know where the other parts are located. When the code is posted, it is posted multiple times. Once for G54, once for G55, once for G56 etc. When the user sets up the machine, they have to teach each workpiece as G54, G55, G56 and so on. Then Fusion will execute the program at each of those locations.

I have a question. Whenever ever i have to put a nice chamfer along some 3d contours what i often do is to manually compensate a ball nose end mill (12mm ball nose for a 0.5mm chamfer) on every point basically via spherical coordinate s calculation given the chamfer angle and the cut path angle like literally R0=6 (tool radius) R1=45 (chmfr angle) R2=30 (path angle) G1 X=(R0*COS(R1)) Y=((R0*(COS(R1))*COS(R2))) Z=((R0*(COS(R1))*SIN(R2))) this is just the sphere comp. You need to ad the point location for every axis and ad or subtract the comp value based on what quadrant of the theorical circle you are then reduce R0 by 0.5 so the tool dive in to the part by 0.5 creating the chamfer. ALL THIS BY HAND on the machine. I have videos of it that i can upload for every one who disbelief. So my question is: is there a method in fusion for doing all this? Like a trace path but whit a ball nose one shot along 3d contours? Edit: The code i wrote is just an example I have some actual code that I can copy and paste here.

At 5:36, you say you can't do counter sinks but can you not extrude the dimensions for say a cap head screw, then extrude another through hole for the socket head bolt for example? This would be the long way but i'm not sure if Fusion today can like place opposing counter sunk socket heads, ie say counter sunk from oposite sides of a plate, unless one does it manually and not via the "Hole" function. At least this is how i read it when trying to perform this. So i would just make my counter sunk holes via a sketch and extrusion. Do you know any way to perform this in a more simple way? Great video BTW and u got another subber!
