As a guitar player , Phil X has got great construction , and great chops. But he does not have the vocals and charisma like Richie. Glad , he helped the band at some point .

I was given an acoustic guitar when I was a kid and the action from the 8th fret down was about 8mm going up to 12mm on 14th. It was unplayable. Strengthening up those fingers though lol. When I played on my friend electric guitar with a real low action it was like night and day comparisons. My playing improved instantly it felt so much easier wasn't like playing on springs anymore

A pro guitar buddy of mine said, the first thing is (beyond basic playing and knowing your keys)...learn the 5 modes of the pentatonic then just bump those shapes up or down depending on the key. That's really not that complicated (to memorize). You'll become competent in a shape or three quickly...most easily are the shape up and below the common minor pentatonic shape. Then you already know have the notes. Just KZfaq 5 modes of the pentatonic and it's laid out pretty easily.

3:25 Yes, same rig sounds in a lot of ways depending what you play and with what intention you play. Hey, it'll sound different in the room depending on how you hear yourself on stage, because that's your personal feedback loop on which you base what you put into your playing. PS: I think, I can always hear Phil X through... but I'll probably not pass a blindfold test. :P (What I see, still has way too much of an impact on what I think I hear.)

All they did was put an ebony fretboard, cheapen the finish, give it a rear fret access cutout and charge $3-$400 more. Kinda wack. Studio's aren't supposed to be 2 grand.

I met Phil X playing at the Guitar World parking lot in Mississauga, Ontario - as a favour to his buddy Jim. Nicest guy and stayed to talk to fans for quite some time.

I love Gibson acoustic guitars and love all of these videos. My only request is if we can get a pure mic tone with the acoustic guitars. I totally understand getting that slight pickup sound but man I just feel like personally it brings down the true quality in the guitar’s natural voice that’s truly in that beautifully crafted box. Other than that. Great video🙂

Just get a chibson, 300.00 and a few upgrades and good set up and your done. Gibson priced out 98% of musicians. They only wanted the boomer money and now they lost everyone else. Chibby all the way now, I know tons of guys going that right now, Gibson is gonna reap the greed reward soon enough

If you’re a life long guitar player, music fan, and dreamer….how can someone possibly live and die without purchasing at least one of these custom shop dream machines. I only have 4 and I am salivating over which one is next, ‘59 dot 335 , Black Beauty LP , another burst 💥. Oh there’s more. I will leave this earth one day, but not before wearing out some amazing 🤩 Gibsons.🎉😅 Also you get what you pay for people, they make these things from raw trees that they sourced from around the planet 🌎 Thank you Gibson !

I have a Gibson LP and a Es 335…. I can’t see myself spending 15k on a Gibson Custom Es355 and the LP custom from Gibson. But I can see myself ordering this 355 and that custom for $2,600… with my setup skills I can make those baby’s play great. And I love those new headstocks!!!!!!! Great move guys!!! Awesome!!!!!! And yes. The Gibson 355 custom is $8,500. And the LP custom is about $6,000….. I love Gibson… always have. But I’m really digging this epiphone revamp…. Enough for me to be able to own quality iconic replicas of my favorite models at a great price point. Some may say they are still too expensive.. but those pups are 600 dollars from Gibson alone. And ebony boards and MOP inlays and that headstock with cts pots and Mallory caps???? Guys… this is an absolute value… probably the best they’ve had to offer

Best video to date! Loved the clarifying of not only the IBG vs IGC differences, but with sound/playing demos of each of the models,! Awesome!! Love the proactive reminder of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for the modders who'd rather buy cheap and upgrade themselves. Love that now there are options for those of us who just want buy and play on day one. I became a Gibson snob about 5 years ago and sold all my Epiphones for fewer but higher end Gibson Custom Shop models. But I tell you what... I will definitely be picking up 1 or 2 of these IGCs for sure!! Even at $1500, It's a no brainer given that Gibson Custombucker pickups cost (pretax) $500+ just by themselves, plus another $50 to $150 give or take for a hard shell case. Sold!! Good call Gibson to go "all in" on Epiphone! I love that business decision, especially since there are still lower cost models available for those who want a less expensive guitar.

335's are cool guitars (I've owned three) but my Eastman T-185 shames them. More of what you want and less of what you can do without-like that full centerblock. Get a clean, gently used one for far less money than a Gibson. Find a good dealer and check them out.

I’m pretty impressed with what Epiphone is doing. However, I’m still seeing the dreaded high frets from the 12th up which is an expensive repair whether you have it done or invest in the tools and time to do it yourself. I haven’t seen the hump at the neck/body joint on the ES models yet but my experience is that it’s a matter of time. Please tell me these issues are being addressed. They are unacceptable at the new price points imho.
