I pay for campsites for safety reasons. I don’t feel safe going alone with my kids in the middle of nowhere. Especially knowing that criminals like to visit blm lands. It’s not animals I fear so much, it’s bad people. Maybe for men it’s safer because they can defend them better than I can. I just don’t want to risk it. So I settle for paying
@getwanderlost23 күн бұрын
I feel like paid crowded campgrounds have a higher risk than going into the middle of nowhere where you may run into a few other people.

Stop showing everyone and their cousin how to get to these places. Make them do their own research. And if you’re not from Utah, stay out of it.
@getwanderlost5 ай бұрын
I get it but also it’s public land. If you’re American you have a right to be there. I’ve seen plenty of places destroyed so I do go back and forth on sharing locations. This one is hard enough to get to that I’m not too worried, that and the proximity to another very popular hike.

Quicksand has something in common with oobleck: you can run on it without sinking! This is because both quicksand and oobleck are non-Newtonian fluids. This means that they get unielding in response to a sudden shock (such as being jumped on), and yet they yield to gentle pressure, such as standing still. Oobleck is a mixture of water and corn starch, by the way.

@reversetetragram26 күн бұрын
Completely wrong quicksand is not a non Newtonian fluid it’s water locked sand you won’t find quicksand in a desert unless it’s by an oasis or near the ocean
