One of those lost gems that didn't do so good (#37 peak) and forgotten until the internet came out and rediscovered it.

It always perplexed me as to why this song didn´t make top 10.

Used to hear this song a lot on both WKXW (Then Kicks 101 and a half now New Jersey 101.5) in Trenton, and WMGK in Philadelphia (Then a AC station now a classic rock station) as this song was released in the summer of 1982 when I was only eight years old.

That incredible marriage of Beck and Ben Folds, and yet completely original. "SUBLIMINAL PLASTIC MOTIVES" is a masterpiece.

A lot of people hated this album, the Adrian Sherwood production certainly went in a different direction. This mix isn't the same as what's on the CD, this is definitely more club oriented. People also forget the songs City LIghts and Real Life off of that album are more like the old stuff.
@RaymondinJapanАй бұрын
Adrian Sherwood didn’t produce this album. He produced the ‘Code’ album. ‘Groovy, Laidback and Nasty’ was produced by Cabaret Voltaire with Marshall Jefferson.
@cnagorkaАй бұрын
@@RaymondinJapan I stand corrected.

@@cnagorka ☺️👍🏻 Both ‘Code’ and ‘Groovy, Laidback and Nasty’ are great albums imo. What do you think of them?
@cnagorkaАй бұрын
@@RaymondinJapan I like them both, but it almost seems like they're from two different groups- "Code" definitely has more of the old CV feel, like the creepy samples used on "Don't Argue" and they syncopated funk of "Money Sex Freaks". GL&N obviously embraces the hip hop coming in to vogue at the time and has some killer tracks, I like the remix of "Keep On" and "City Lights" in particular.

LIFE IS MADE OF SENSATIONS, PULSIONS OF PLEASURE AND ALSO IN THIS CASE WITH THIS TRACK A HIGH LEVEL OF MUSICAL ORGASM HAS BEEN REACHED THE MORE I LISTEN TO IT THE MORE YOU WANT TO LISTEN TO IT WHAT A WONDERFUL TRACK I ALSO LIKE THE OLD PERIOD OF VOLTAIRE CABARETS BUT ALSO WITH THIS TRACK AND THE RELATED ALBUM Groovy, Laidback And Nasty AND WONDERFUL GRANDI CABARET VOLTAIRE THEY ARE AN EXTRAORDINARY GROUP. GREETINGS TO ALL THE FANS OF VOLTAIRE CABARETS IN THE WORLD FROM NORTHERN ITALY AND BELIEVE ME THE ITALIAN CUISINE IS WONDERFUL, YOU MUST TRY IT TO BELIEVE AND I REPEAT THIS TRACK IT'S WONDERFUL WHEN TEARS COME TO YOUR EYES THEN THERE IS THE MOST TOTAL WELL-BEING AFTER ALL MUSIC IS EMOTION AND LIFE
