If you’re going with a regular sbc I would either use a GM crate engine or a Blueprint Engines crate engine.

I got lucky on my 70 1/2 Nova and was able to drill out the bushing holes and use larger bushings.

I got lucky with my 68. The doors shut awesome. No sag at all. I do need everything from the doors back though. lol! Do the full quarters come with the back glass channel (along the sail panel) and trunk gutters?

I look for the ones that are POS. Ask around a lot. Find them before someone else does and tries to sell it.

Hey John, super glue is your friend to keep those bushings in, dam gravity.😁 Also, take some measurements of a welded on door hinge from the centerline of the the bushing hole to the door and do the same with a bolted on hinge. Perhaps the two are different in that area? If they are then shim accordingly. If they are the same then the aftermarket door could be a bit off? That is very surprising that the aftermarket companies that make Nova replacement doors, hinges and bushing kits aren't aware of this situation and have a solution for sale.🤷 Good video of how to deal with the two different hinge styles.😎👍

Installing shims is always an option to move that door back and get the gap more presentable.

It will Not Clear the Fender, If its not even, or slightly in some, Remember, set the door to Rear quarter, then set fender to door..

Yep. I had the quarter lined up to the old original door but that door is bent some. So I’m going to put another factory door on and line up quarter then try this door again

Being a Body Man running a shop for a long time., The welded on ones that are bad, They made a Kit ,That like you said You just over drill the Hole and then tap in a Bronze bearing, with Larger Pin, ,I like those, They lasted longer. Because of larger Pin.

not when someone leaves it for waaaay too long and it wears through the bushing and elongates the hole. you arent drilling it larger for new bushings, its ruined and the hinge needs replacing like mine were.

Your microphone needed adjustment. Obviously, I understand that you were working on the car as well as trying to educate us KZfaq nova fans, but there were a few spots where I wish I could find my headphones to hear you better. I gotta ask: when you drove frankennova all over the south, how much weight did the heat cause you to lose? I remember you said at one point it was something like *135 in the car or something close to that. Maybe show us what would be necessary to install vintage air in one of those cars? I'm definitely glad to see the custom conversion nova back on here too.

The problem with the sound sucks. I don’t realize it’s an issue until I’m done abs editing. As far as losing weight, I lost 10lbs and my wife lost 12 during Raceweek. While driving between tracks, the temp in the car was around 115. When I would sit in staging with windows up to run the temp was 126. We didn’t eat lunch most days because it was so hot that we just tried to stay hydrated.

@@Shop209 oh man. That had to suck. I hope you're staying healthy and hydrated. Pennsylvania hit 99 last week, and I think I lost about the same amount of weight as you. Do those floor vents help in your nova? Try to have a good day, and make sure to keep a few Gatorades nearby.

@@SmallTownBuilds with the doors, a jack stand normally will help, so long as you aren't like me, in that I have clumsy moments and knock stuff over once in a while. One thing I'll do, I'll use a sharpie to outline something like the hood hinges so if I can get the hood to be inside the lines, it's a good fit. Some people also drill a small hole to have as a guide. I hope this stuff can help at least a little bit, and have a good day.

That whole door on the passengers side has gotta move back a 1/16-1/8" Hench the bolt on hinges are superior

The factory door had a better gap. It might be because of the repro door is off.

If your not showing it or nothing, add thin washers between the hinge and the door to push it back just enough to split the difference. 👍@@Shop209

I have a 76 nova 4 door I’m fixing up, I can’t wait to get it on the road. One thing im having a problem with is finding the driver side fender extender. When I got it. It is completely missing
