Man this is actually my favorite game in the entire series for one reason: its environmental storytelling. What i really like about this game is its way it uses its levels to tell the story of Crash on his journey. Like he starts on the sandy beaches of N. Sanity Beach, then travels across the quiet jungles and rolling stones, to ending up in abandoned dungeons and temple ruins, to finally stepping foot in the industrialized third island where wildlife mightve been harmed and toxic waste pollutes the island of its clean air. The final boss fight is a truly great conclusion to the story as the castle and its industrial buildings are set on fire which really shows how much Crash really "crashed" his way to the top to save his girlfriend.

First off really well done and well organized video 👏 Second based on your last statement towards CB 4 IAT I agree with what you said on Crash not being a hard platformer. What made him a success is the fun experience throughout every game. With the exception of CB 1 only being hard because it’s the first and every first game is like testing waters for what’s to come in a game. The sequel if that said game is where the developers usually fix the issues with the controls or other things people complain about. Which brings me to my third notion. I have a theory that CB 4 IAT was only hard because people would complain about the CB series being too hard but honestly with all respect it sounds like a skill issue. Then TFB took those “it’s too hard” reviews/statements from people into consideration thus making CB 4 IAT a really really really x’s 💯 a hard game!

I also agree on controller difficulty crash floating is the least frustrating but the others are really bad spin sliding and SPECIALLY the D pad (I know in ps1 there controller use analog but not the ps3) it is 3D platforming and dying to D pad jumping section is frustrating and unfair

This video made with heart Truly speaks volumes about how I and others feel about the this adventure and journey in crash 1 seeing the cortex castle from the first level and getting close more and more as you continue through levels, the change of environment as traversing from living jungle island with it Residents to abandoned lost cities where left you question what happened them to factories of machinery of robots and toxic waste and reaching the castle is really REALLY Unforgettable journey that set crash 1 for me apart from the sequels You really expressing the feeling of every crash 1 fans this retrospective is just amazing

crash bandicoot and rayman actually have some interesting similarities: 1. the first games in both series are extremely hard 2. the second and third games are liked better than the first 3. the second and third games are significantly easier than the first

I completely agree with your points about the progression. As a kid I remember being so excited to reach each level because it felt like a journey and I was exploring these cool islands. I totally relate to trying to piece to together the lore of these temples and abandoned structures lol. Also agree with Cortex's fight in 1 being peak. It felt so epic with the background and everthing.

I couldn't agree more with the discussion about how people perceive Crash Bandicoot to be this hardcore plataformer when in reality it never was. Even tho i love Crash Bandicoot 4 i really wish it didn't go the frustratingly difficult route just because some youtubers and journalists created that perception. Good thing they didn't make a sequel to that turning crash into a souless pvp game that died in a couple months at least heh Great video mate 👍

Crash Bandicoot is cool an all but Mario stomps all over Crash Bandicoot, there is a reason why Mario has endured and Crash Bandicoot has stagnated but with that said, the original Crash Bandicoot is nostalgic and I own the N Sane trilogy on Switch.

I'd love some critiques on the video and script so comment what you'd like. I plan on the Cortext Strike's Back video in the future if there someone that enjoys this video PS. There’s a tier list at the end I’m making for Crash Games as we go through videos

If crash bandicoot and coco bandicoot were Pokémon, they’d most certainly be ground and fighting types. Crash could be a ground and fighting type since he borrows the ground and his spin attack animation could be a fighting move like double or triple kick. And as for his ground type move it would be dig. More moves would be low sweep inspired by his sliding animation. Rolling kick can be used for his tornado spin animation. As in Crash Twinsanity, crash has the ability to throw Dr. Neo Cortex so he can use seismic toss. And in crash bandicoot: the wrath of cortex coco is playable as a fully playable character in several platforming levels and not only vehicle sections such as crash bandicoot: warped. Coco’s moveset & learnset would be high jump kick, low kick based on wrath of cortex, dig and low sweep from bee hiving level in crash bandicoot 2: cortex strikes back, mega kick, hurricane, double kick, triple kick, rolling kick, karate chop due to her expertise of martial arts stated in the crash: the wrath of cortex manual. As for Crash Bandicoot’s moveset and learnset, they would be, rolling kick, low sweep, hurricane, double kick, triple kick, low kick.

This is stupid. Technology has surpassed this, there’s no reason Crash needs to be a platform exclusive. Just because the first games were designed to take advantage of specific period hardware doesnt mean you have to be a brand-loyal sheep. Grow a brain.

Crash Bash is a game that I stopped enjoying. The AI is horrible, which zapped the fun out of the game. Adventure mode just tried to be something it's not. I say this game shouldn't be remade, but rather, have the minigames as unlockable bonus content in a future Crash game. Similar to how you unlocked minigames in Super Mario 64 DS.

Do you think JRPGs like Xenogears, FFVII (and VIII and XVI), Trails in the Sky or Yakuza would have been better with a silent protagonist? Most of the games I mentioned I think would simply NOT work with a silent protagonist due to being pretty much about sentimental drama and introspection. Do you think a silent protagonist could be interesting even a story that is strongly centered around personal relationships and sentimental drama?

I always did like the Stoic, Strong Silent Characters. Funnily enough, I genuinely enjoyed playing as silent CoD protagonists. There's something so admirable about the way they carry themselves. Also, Little Ghost is both adorable and terrifying. Also also, I consider Claude from GTA 3 to be the most interesting character bc he's efficient and I like to think he's death incarnate. Genuinely, he's a psychopath. I enjoyed this video, keep it up. I'd love to see more of your favorite silent characters.

The Half Life franchise was famed for putting the player in the game with its silent protagonist, Gordon Freeman. Granted, Half Life Alyx kind of throws that out the window in the way of playing as Alyx Vance who, as shown in the previous games, speaks. However, considering that game is in VR (where immersion in those kind of games is at its peak), I’d say the trade-off is more than worth it. And, me personally… I think Miss Vance is ten billion times easier on the eyes than Forspoken’s constantly yapping, millennial-written ass doughnut of a protagonist!

I actually think in terms of typing Spyro would be Dragon/Normal and his type would change based on where he evolved in the Dragon Realms Dragon/Grass (If evolved in Artisans) Dragon/Fighting (If Evolved in Peace Makers) Dragon/Fairy (If Evolved in Magic Crafters) Dragon/Ghost (If Evolved in Beast Makers) Dragon/Psychic (If Evolved in Dream Weavers) Dragon/Steel (If Evolved in Gnorc Gnexus) Dragon/Water (If Evolved in Avalar) Dragon/Fire (Like you suggested (If Evolved in The Forgotten Realms)) I think Spyro would have a Kubfu situation. What do you think?

I've always liked the effort put into character reactions when they don't talk. Whilst I appreciate why certain characters need to be voiced I think it says (terrible pun) a lot that some characters don't need to say anything. You also nailed it with why I loved playing Hollow Knight because the character is a blank canvas in lots of ways. Regarding Sonic I'm very on the fence. Depending on writers, voice direction etc Sonic can either be a great and well written character whose dialogue can actually add some good elements to the story. Sonic and the black knight has some great little character moments that it'd be hard to do without a voice. Classic Sonic however is always a refreshing change given how he doesn't talk so he has to let his emotions and actions do it all. Great video man! God bless

I think it really depends on the game and execution. For example, FFX's story wouldn't work as well if Tidus was a silent protagonist imo. Sure you can rename him, he's clearly the character that's "supposed" to represent the player player, but him having a personality makes it difficult in comparison to the likes of Crono, Link, the Hero from Dragon Quest, etc, right? *But* what FFX wants you to do is, actually pay attention to the story. By giving Tidus a personality, you automatically stay focused and try to understand the world of Spira alongside him. There will be times that you'll disagree with him, but also moments that you'll hype him up! Having a protagonist that actually reacts to the world around him gives you a perspective, makes you think more about it, you know? Now I can't really feel connected with Link in BotW and TotK regains/watches memories, but we never actually gets to know how he feels, making me feel detached to everything that's happening, it's like I really just saw a memory and Link stood there like "Oh my god. Anyway." Had BotW/TotK Link be very expressive like Wind Waker or Twilight Princess Link with faces and gestures, and I'd be a lot more willing to connect to Hyrule. (I still loooove both games tho!)

@vittoriopugliese3352 5 ай бұрын
Comparing Tidus to Link is a really good comparison. The plot of FFX, in fact, is very reminiscent of Zelda, the worldbuilding and structure are similar to some Zelda games. Except that FFX intentionally, without any strict need for a speaking protagonist to tell the story, decides to use a speaking protagonist just for the sake of having a very "intrusive" perspective (not only does Tidus talk, he also narrates first-person) as a way to direct player attention through how Tidus himself lives through the events. FFX intentionally doesn't want Tidus to be the player inserted into the game, because it wants to hammer in the player's skull that Tidus has specific emotions and the world (and Yuna) are influencing him in a very specific way.

Do you think Xenogears (or the Trails games, or FFVII or FFVIII or FFXVI, or the Xenoblade and Yakuza games) could have worked well with a silent protagonist? A game such as Xenogears, which is heavy on sentimental drama and is pretty much about introspection, and tends to focus a lot on a specific character arc that happens to the protagonist from specific circumstances and a very specific context, would have benefitted from its protagonist being silent, or not?
