My mother was born there in 1924. She came to Alaska, as did my father, in 1956. I was born in Alaska in 1960, and as a younger person, took many trips to Michigan, and the upper peninsula. Beautiful country. Mother's family were Finlanders, and there were lots of saunas. That's all in the past, and I miss it all. Oh yes, and pasties too (the meat pies!)

My old 2005 Hyundai Tucson has a rusty oil pan and so far no leaks but doesn’t mean it won’t happen though. ( Keeping fingers crossed until I get to the shop on Monday )

That’s how America sometimes makes a mistake by using one word or sentence to judge a person’s character. This gentleman was only saying that he was lied to by the Generals and Diplomatic Corp. He did not mean that he was literally ‘brainwashed’.

It's not only the brainwashed comment. It was the fact he was taking such a progressive stance, saying our country shouldn't have been involved in Vietnam in the first place, and that our response to the Vietnamese people was unnecessary, that wasn't mainstream, and not what Richard Nixon, nor Hubert Humphrey was saying.

"Suicide Alley".... Yeah, nothing has changed there. Carnage Alley might be an updated name for it. Used to be "carnage alley" was only a certain section, now it spans the length of every mile of every lane of every 400-series highway in the province. Everyone is in a big hurry to get there first. Look up the term "Rat Race" in the dictionary, and surely the word "Ontario" will be one of the first words used to define that term.

Are you from the UP originally? What made you decide to move to Munising? I'm curious because I'm thinking about possibly moving there, I'm going through the hiring process for Corrections and considering working at the prison up there.

My mom is from Laurium, north of Houghton in the Keweenaw Peninsula. I've been going up there ever since childhood so I'm pretty familiar with much of the UP. I've never been to Escanaba though.

Hi I'm Walter The driver of the truck in this Video from what I can recall of the accident I was slowing down for stopped traffic and the reason why the traffic was stopping people were getting off the exit ahead because there was a tanker fire on the other side After I got hit from behind I cant recall much except waking up in the hospital 7 years later I'm looking back on this Video shaking my head wondering why My life was spared Yes i did had many surgeries I lost my career driving a truck due to the surgeries I had I cannot Hold a CDL even with 500,000 safety miles under my belt... I have no clue what happen to the driver that hit me but anyhow my point is this You need to pay attention to whats going on at all times adjust your speed in the condition your driving in key word is FOCUS the life you may save might be your own and others thats around you Peace WallyB Blues 2015
