Imagine getting that for Christmas in 1974....the box alone would be a very visually striking piece....absolutely no chance of that in today's world. I had a larger polystyrene glider....might have been a jumbo jet....you put a 6 inch nail into the nose for ballast, flew pretty well. I reckon the colditz model glider would fly well, do you plan on giving it a go?....I wonder if the real one would of flown successfully?....imagine the guards looking up to see the glider flying over their heads!!....'gott in himmel fritz!....wo ist das??'😅😅😅😅

Good stuff m8....ive had the experience, quite a few times of working in the local chemical plants around Teesside....some of which used old ww2 sirens such as the one in your video, but even the post war ones sound exactly the same....so if there was a drill/practice alarm or as happened more than once a twice , a real fire or chemical leak....the sirens would go off and when you are at 'ground zero' so to speak they really give you start, in fact the hairs at the back of your neck stand in end.....'is there a leak?'....'is it near me?'....so god only knows what its like when bombs are coming down at you. I remember as an apprentice at a long demolished site were two tradesman were splashed by diluted cyanide....off went the sirens, they both hit the emergency shower stations , then straight to the medical centre to be given a tablet that makes a person eject all possible fluids from every orifice, apparently.....you get the drift....so all the poison is out of the system. Even today , i think Tuesday mornings at 10am the local works sets off its alarm just like this and if the wind is blowing in the right direction it can be clearly be heard around the town.....might even be a ww2 one, cheers CJ m8😊😊😊😊

The velocity of the 2pdr 40×158mmR and the 2pdr 40×304mmR is similar to the difference between 38 special and 357 magnum in terms of energy transfer. Anyone know why the AP has a hole drilled into the base? I thought the 2pdr AP the British used was solid shot and did not have an explosive filler nor a fuse.

Nice Finds, I havent seen that long cased version here in america. Its been slim pickins here in the outside of the"rare occasional" gun/militaria shows that the democrats keep trying to cancel. Funny, but with me , if the random shell fits a case ..they go together. Never gave it much thought as to being correct match up. Still like to find a reasonable priced 88mm casing . Ive never seen even a cutdown 88mm ashtray..I did manage to find a larger chromed german ww2 100mm? ashtray for like $20. Wonder if the 88mm are more common in the UK then U.S. Happy hunting CJ!

Hi CJ, Really appreciate your video and review of this old Airfix kit. I am old enough to remember when Airfix released these kits.Curiously enough, about a month ago I bought a part built Airfix 1914 Old Bill Bus. The top and bottom body sections have been assembled and the windows have been installed in the side panels, the majority of the rest of the kit is loose in the box, but I have checked it with the instruction sheet and the kit appears to be complete. Like the 2014 rerelease you reviewed it appears to be the civilian kit with the the soldiers on a separate sprue. But Scalemates dates this as a 1966 release as it has the pattern number on the box 573 and it has the advertising for the civilian bus on a paper sheet as well as the cardboard planks for the military version. The art work on the box is what I remember from my childhood. When I bought the kit I intended building it. But I am now wondering given the kit’s age whether I would be better leaving it in the box as it is and whether it would have any more value than the £20.00 I paid for it. I would be really grateful for you opinion. As an aside ,just before I watched your video tonight I saw the 2014 version of the kit up for auction on eBay and bought it. Best regards, Eric.

@@ericbeaton7211 hi,thanks for the comment, where possible it's always better to build a more recent reissue than an original....for example those matchbox kits which were taken over by revell....its better to build a revel boxed one than a matchbox boxed one as the matchbox boxes are getting hard to find....the original airfix old bill is around the 40 pounds mark.....ironically the airfix reissue of the jaguar 420 from a couple of years ago which cost 15 quid is now nearly touching 50 quid, same for the reissue bond bug.
