i know people that have put 50 thousand plus miles on a x supercharger running at 11 psi with a bone dry stock 4.0 its a lot more resilient then what people think. do your research before you make an "informational" video

Stock for stock a 46 is gapping a 305, and in terms of building a 305 it may be cheaper, but how much horsepower are you really gonna make better off getting a 350 to compete with a 4.6

Hey, if the 60's and early 70's muscle car era was the most exciting thing that ever happened in the auto industry, (and it was),-------I am cool with 340hp That was freaking fast back then. :)

As a fellow owner of a 2005 Ford Mustang V6 the best thing you can do with these is start off by upgrading the suspension, wheels, tires, and brakes to improve control and reliability first, next the drivetrain example start with coolant reservoir tank, radiator with fan, and a high performance transmission cooler to make sure your engine and transmission stays cool and not overheat then install a high stall speed torque converter, aluminum solid one piece driveshaft and a 8.8 or 9 inch ford rear axle with the Eaton true track differential along with 4.11 gears since it definitely needs help off the line acceleration, then finish it with a full complete exhaust system from headers, x pipe, to a true dual cat back exhaust, don’t spend any money under the hood but if you do keep it naturally aspirated and keep it on 87 octane tune since you want it as a dependable daily driver without costing you a fortune on gas and maintenance then save your money do some research so in time when your ready you can swap that 4.0 V6 for a 5.0 Coyote V8 and boom your welcome.

I have a 2008 ford Mustang coupe and I love my car. I have 108,000 miles on it and I haven't had to do any maintenance on it. It hasn't needed any. I'm currently working on upgrading it. I have no desire to ever get rid of my car. I'm going to get the seats redone, new grill and fog lights, white stripe down the center and get the interior door panels redone. Its mainly cosmetic things I want to get done. I'm hoping in 5 years when my car becomes a classic and the upgrades I'm working on it will be worth more later on. I have no desire to give it up or sell it anytime soon.

Do whatever you want to do to your car. Small block, Big Block, LS, Supercharged HEMI, 2JZ, etc... The ONLY bad thing that you can do with a G-Body is not drive it. I would suggest addressing the rear end and suspension first (if your car is drivable), but again, it's yours...I just want to see you outside having fun.

All these people that try to compare the 4.0 v6 to the GT's aren't so bright. Do these same Einsteins think that a Honda CR250F motocross bike should be able to out power a Honda CR450F? One's got a bigger horse that the other......the big one puts out more power.....Doh.

Lol I have a cammed 305 with vortec heads and a some other goodies and it shits on 4.6 mustang's constantly. They hate when I say it's just a 305. You can do anything to a 305 you can do to a 350. Most parts interchangeable. They get a bad reputation because of the low power of the lg4 and lo3. But the lbp tpi in the 5 speed camaros was actually 5 more h.p. than the h.o. 5.0 ford of the same era. There was multiple 305 options ranging in h.p. from like 155 to 230.

2v 4.6's from the 90's were/are notorious oil burners. Even into the late 90's, early aughts- the 4.6 had a bad reputation simply because it was gutless, and even in the aftermarket- they were known to be turkeys that just didn't make great power. That's all changed over the years- there's plenty of go-fast goodies to help build a powerful 4.6. All gripes side, the 4.6 stock is velvety-smooth, and they do sound great- if you take care of them they can last a long time, making some impressive numbers no less. Police cars & taxis have proven the modular V8 to be nearly bulletproof. The comments throwing shade toward SBC's are baseless; Chevy small-blocks in any iteration are THE definition of bulletproof- from the very beginning, through today. That's indisputable, and I don't give GM much credit as they have made so many bad products in modern times- but the SBC isn't one of those products. The 305 gets a bad rap simply because they primarily existed in large numbers during the era of gutless smog-motors; comically low output for a given displacement ruled the day. It's insanely cheap, and easy to bring one of these smoggers into the modern era, to make far more power than it's creators ever dreamed possible. Why more people don't do this is beyond me- I know LS swaps are the thing to do, but it's still gotta be cheaper to build a 305 than to swap in an entirely new powertrain?? I think the 305 has such a poor reputation as a gutless turd, people would rather scrap them out than bother messing with them. Sure a 305 will never have the potential that a 5.3 has, hell even the 4.8 has far more potential to make huge power-- maybe even the new 4.3 has more potential if boosted, but I digress. Either way, these are great times we live in.

hp for the 4.0 is actually close to 300hp which is pretty close to the 4.6. I'm stock and I've kept up with Civic Type R's and Subaru Wrx sti's. The specs on the 4.0 have NEVER been updated since the first gen engine was in the ford explorer. When they put them in the s197 mustangs, they changed the intake plenum, the cooling system slightly, Tuning, and some others. So the google spec of 210hp and 249tq is bs and anyone who has "actually dyno'd" any of these have given inaccurate numbers. If you went by your numbers, that would be saying that the newer civics and what not would dust the 4.0 out the gate.
