Tie downs are for people that don't have time to train their horses.

Great instruction! I’m teaching my 11yo ranch mare (and myself) to run barrels just for fun. She loves it, wants to go fast and makes lots of mistakes. Slowing things down like you do really helps. The repetition is the key.

What if they start bucking? Just curious how that would work on draw reins to stop them.

I absolutely love the way Ivy thinks about training. I’ve changed quite a few tools in how I work my mares because of her. Starting with not reverse arching a horse that shoulders the barrel like “we’ve” been taught for decades. And I’m seeing improvement. Even in my 18yr barrel horse. You can teach and old horse new tricks. Lol Thank you for these vids!

What do I do if my horse runs to the second barrow and then turns away from it and doesn’t want to do it. I have been having this problem. I don’t know how to fix it?
@Bootbitch3 ай бұрын
One thing it might be is a pain issue. It may hurt to turn in that direction. Check your saddle fit, does he/she need their teeth done or you might need a chiropractor. Or all three?

You shouldn’t kick with spurs. And you shouldn’t whip purely for speed or hard. A whip should be a tap. Horses are more sensitive then us
