Is the vilppu drawing manual purchasable or was it just a limited run?

Our shop is currently under maintenance but we will be opening again soon and selling more drawing manuals.

You're right, it can be tough! But that’s part of the process-pushing through the hard parts is where real growth happens. Keep practicing, and you’ll see improvement over time. You’ve got this!

Regarding Microns: I suggest using them on white scratch board instead of normal paper. The line is sharp and it can be corrected easily with a sharp knife. If the line isn’t as dark as you want, scan the image at high res. I’m an illustrator and this worked for me. Now I have shifted to Photoshop, which has many advantages for a graphic artist. Much more to say about Microns.

Nice video! I would say there are no true concavities in the human figure, or life forms in general, even trees; rather, what are first perceived as concavities are simply overlapping, convex contour lines. Like you said, the forms are always swelling outward.

Yes topology can get complex. The context here is breaking down the surfaces of the body into profiles (surfaces are generated via directrix and generatrix) and breaking those curves into discreet three point curves which can either be convex or concave. This is the traditional approach. When we work this way we can determine firmly that a segment of these profiles are convex or concave. We can even cross section the surfaces at any orientation (rather than alone the profiles) and interpret that section perimeter the same way (discreet 3 point curves). So in this context there’s no ambiguity as to concavity or convexity. -Joshua

Would love a deeper expalanation with examples of the errors that arise from the planar approach. You mentioned the discrepencies that present themselves, it would be great to see these in a diagram. Love your work!

Someone like loomis seems to use planes, and their head drawings are some of the best I've ever seen. Would love to hear your thoughts!

Good advice but if you're nervous drawing live model, might be more nervous at museum with so many people coming up to you and scrutinize your work lol

You could also go to parks when it is quiet too, there are a lot of public sculptures.

For real. I'd be way more nervous drawing in public surrounded by strangers verses just sitting in a class with like minded people...

When do you finally create your own recorded course on NMA instead of just scratching the surface of what you could teach with something like you started doing with Master Mondays?
