I'm starting this one today👍🏻 I taught myself how to paint, 2 years ago, from tutorials on KZfaq. I'm 56 and always wanted to paint but never tried because I lacked the confidence. I took an art class in 7th grade and my teacher was SO mean to all the girls in class. She destroyed my confidence so I never took another class. Fast forward to 2022...my husband convinced me to give it a try. I love it! And, I seem to have a knack for it. I painted the highland cow, from your tutorial, but did it in oils. I entered it in the county fair last year and won a blue ribbon. So, thank you for such great, detailed, tutorials. I'm excited to get going on this seagull 😊

That's awesome Amy. I am glad you had the encouragement and support to start again. Congrats with the blue ribbon and good luck with your seagull. Let me know how it turns out!

@dennistheartist28 күн бұрын
Simone, unfortunately, it is impossible for me to give you a name or a make of any pastel stick. Check each artist's pastel box and you will see hardly any pastel stick has a name on them. After some usage all sticks are eventually broken into pieces for easy handling. We just pick up one that looks closest to the colour needed. To make natters most colours are split into different hues.

Just dawned on me (no pun intended!) that I appreciate the way the colour strings have been laid out on the pallet, along with the orientation. They match top-to-bottom the sequence in the sky. A great aid to remembering what goes where.

Thnx for this. I am thinking about buying water mixable oil paints, so I’m researching stuff a bit. It is a bit strange, because much people says those paints dries a little faster than regular oil paints. Maybe it’s the brand, I don’t know. I have no experience with them yet. The Winsor and Newton Artisan paints are having a discount at the moment in my area. Can I use the brushes for this that I use for my acrylics, or do I ruin them if I want to use acrylic paint later on? I can’t find it anywhere and I haven’t found anyone yet that can tell me the answer.
@PaintBasketАй бұрын
I use the same set of brushes for oil and acrylic painting. Just make sure you clean, wash & sry them well after each painting session. I then lay them in the sun to dry properly if I am going to be changing mediums soon, if not then they can just dry on their own in the holder.

Hi Good day - Does Fine Art America charge a commission for the sale of original artwork?How is the money received for the sale of original artwork. is it received by Fine Art America? and is there a commission on transferring the money to Paypal etc. When is the money transferred by Fine Art America do they need proof that the person received the original?
@PaintBasket2 ай бұрын
When it comes to selling original artworks, FAA simply sends the lead on to you then you and the buyer arrange the sale off platform. No commission is taken or follow up from FAA.

I really appreciate this tutorial! Not only did you teach me what I came for, I left with even more knowledge than I had about something I didn't even know I'd learn about?! I had no clue that different pencils like that would help reduce overworking the paper. I have a pencil currently thats a 2H pencil, and when I read about blending years and years ago they made it sound like the pencils were just for different artist levels. 😂 I think the book must have thoroughly confused me there; and so I only used one or two pencil grades, cause I thought "I only need one type of pencil to draw really good details until I get better" 😂😂 This sounds so silly, but granted I'm only 22 and a hobby artist 😅 Live and learn 😂😂
@riverjacobs20232 ай бұрын
It is funny though cause I do remember learning about blending with different textures, however. I think that this explains why I struggled today when I tried to get back into trying realism and shading 😅

As far as time-consuming processes go, this could be just as well done by embroidery. Now that I think of this, with punch needle embroidery this would be much faster than with paint.
