I prefer to budget by category (rent, bills, food, etc) Is it possible to edit the template to include this?
@theorganizednotebookКүн бұрын
Hi! Thank you for watching! Each expense is also organized by category so you can see how much you spent on each area! Something like this formula could work in the "monthly tracker" : (current.prop("Category") == "Groceries", current.prop("Amount"),0)).sum()/prop("Grocery Budget") to get a percentage of the budget used in that month. Feel free to email us if you would like personalized help with this at [email protected]

Is it possible to combine this with the 50/30/20 finance tracker?
@theorganizednotebook2 күн бұрын
Thank you for watching! At the moment they are both standalone templates but it could be combined if you add an additional tag for the three categories into the expense tracker and add the formula from the 50/30/20 tracker into the monthly tracker! Hope this helps at the moment, and we will consider adding this as part of an updated finance tracker in the future! I have problem with formula wits taks 0/0 Can you help me ?
@theorganizednotebook5 күн бұрын
Hi, thank you for following along with the tutorial. We were wondering if you could explain the situation a bit further. Do you mean that you have tasks but it still shows as 0? This would help us to problem solve and help you out better!
@user-dd3tn5qn6f4 күн бұрын
@@theorganizednotebook I created a database similar to yours for time blocking, and in the calendar, I have properties like those in your tutorial (a formula that shows "show time," a tag like "time block" and "event," and also tags like "call," "mail," etc.). I also want to add a formula to count tasks, like the "1/4" indicator you have (meaning I finished 1 task). So I created a new template (page), and inside it, I have a Task database (with a checkbox called "Done," text "Task," and tags). I added a relation for the tasks in the properties of this page, and in the formula, I wrote this: format(prop("Task").filter(current.prop("Done")).length()) + "/" + format(prop("Task").length()) But the formula shows me 0/0 even though I added 4 tasks in the Task database. So I don't understand why it doesn't show 0/4.
@theorganizednotebook3 күн бұрын
Thank you for sending more details! Could you double check if your database name matches exactly with your formula name for "Task"? This could sometimes make the formula not work.
@user-dd3tn5qn6f3 күн бұрын

How would you alter things to work with larger phased projects?
@theorganizednotebook12 күн бұрын
Thank you for watching! For larger phase projects you could also consider organizing into another layer. Each project could actually be a phase and then you could place another database as a larger hierarchy to represent the entire project. Hope this makes sense. Instead of Projects -> tasks it could be Projects -> Phases -> Tasks

Is there any way to round up the percentage? I’m making a reading log and there’s 119 pages and I’m currently at page 29. I don’t like how the percentage is like 20 digits long lol.
@theorganizednotebook12 күн бұрын
Thank you for watching! If you would like to round the percentage, you can use the round function. round((Prop A / Prop B)*100)/100 Keep in mind that you have to multiply the division by 100 to round and then divide it afterwards by 100! Round doesn't work on decimals unfortunately!

Forgive me if this comment sounds a bit demeaning of what you were trying to do. I have been trying to learn Notion for about 2 to 3 weeks now and the more I learn the more I say to myself this program is very non-intuitive and should have templates at the ready to be used by people like me who don’t know what they’re doing. I can’t believe how complicated it is just to set up a recurring tasks Checklist. You can do that in Apple calendar as an appointment that is recurring granted without the checkbox. I really wanted to learn notion and habit help me run my companies but instead it is a Kopany of complicated maze like that don’t seem to do what you really need them to. I will say however you explain it better than most anybody I’ve seen on KZfaq. Thank you.
@theorganizednotebook17 күн бұрын
Thank you for your comment and honest opinion! We're also glad that you find our explanations easy to understand. We agree with many of the points you raised about how Notion is not as intuitive and can be cumbersome to build things with it. What makes us use Notion as our preferred tool is that it is an all-in-one space where you can keep notes, to-do, docs, and more but it takes some compromising and building time as well as customization until it really starts working! If you only need a simple to-do list we would recommend other tools as there are many others suited for that purpose! If you think that you might need to grow your to-do list to reference other databases or keep other information stored together we could recommend Notion!

So do you have to create a new calender every week?
@theorganizednotebook17 күн бұрын
Thank you for watching! Unfortunately Notion is slightly limited with recurring entries, but it is useful in a way that you can add tasks into your time blocks! If you would like to speed up the process you can use Notion calendar to copy, paste, and move calendar entries!

I want to love this template but not all of my recurring payments are monthly. I have a few recurring payments that at bi-weekly. Unfortunately, when I choose the biweekly option, it template doesn't seem to record the due dates correctly. It still sets the due date for a month later. 😣😣
@theorganizednotebook22 күн бұрын
Hi thank you for downloading our template, and we're sorry to hear that it doesn't meet your needs with only the monthly subscriptions. Notion has some limitations so we opted to only include a monthly tracker or the formula will get extremely complicated! One option could be simply to write out the bi-weekly due dates as an added text property and to configure the bi-weekly recurring payments into the expense system. If this sounds like a possible option for you, feel free to email us at [email protected] and we are more than happy to film a short tutorial for you!

This was a good video. Easy to follow and got to the point. Am I correct in thinking that the customizable dividers from the codes you provide are blocks in and of themselves? So if, for example, I wanted a vertical divider that was 10 pixels wide for a passage of text, I wouldn't use the quote method because changing from the default to large really only changes the size of the text, not the divider. I could use the customizable code you provide to expand the divider's width but, since it is a block, I couldn't add the text. I could create a workaround by creating an additional column and positioning it near the verticle divider block while making the verticle divider block as narrow as possible. Am I missing something?
@theorganizednotebook22 күн бұрын
Thank you so much for watching our video! you are completely right about the divider, when using a custom divider it basically acts as an additional block which is why it needs to use columns to look like a divider between texts. With a quote it is already part of the block! Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions we can help you with!
