Anyone happen to remember the old donut shop in Isla Vista Ca back in the early 80's. I remember hanging out there in the mornings when this song first came out.

The real life story of Chuck E and Ricki Lee Jones and Tom Waits on the seedy Hollywood Sunset Strip of the 1970’s is pretty cool.

What was it about this song?! I went out and purchased R.L.Jones 1st album entirely because of this cute sexy song.

Saw her live at The Pasadena Playhouse in the 80s. She played piano most of the night. Did fabulous squats with black stockings and a garter belt.

I so remember this came out in the Springtime 79 in my senior year. How I hunger for that ramping up into life. Along with Rickie were Crystal Gayle and Nicolette Larson for the Prom Queens of Music.

The only person that pissed off Jeff Porcaro to walk out of the recording session. She must be some piece of work to do that.

She was a cocky singer. She told Jeff Porcaro she didn’t like the way he was playing “Chuck E’s in love” and after several attempts and her constant nagging Jeff finally got up and walked out! lol! But, she ended up with Gadd on the drums so she got lucky to have two great drummers back to back!

My late Uncle James and I shared a love of Ricki Lee Jones and Randy Crawford. Whenever I hear this song, I can't help but think of him and the moment that we both realized that we really dug Ms. Jones.

I still listen to her and harmonize with this song singing. With Her name. "Rickie" instead of Chucky E's in love... Because I love all women who have beautiful voices and sing balled songs. From Rickie to Whitney,to Borke,to Patty Smyth,Lisa Leob,Karen Carpenter,Patsy Kline, and so on. They make me as a man feel realy good inside hearing them over and over again singing along...
