This entire movie is an American cult classic in my book, from beginning to end. Hail to every cowboy, specifically the “good” ones.

Lee Marvin and Jack Palance all day long. And as a cow poke that’s broken down a few ponies, that saddle horn with a rubber rope slide on it makes me just shake my head and chuckle.🤠

Those are some mighty clean chaps for a guy that plays rough in the dirt with large unruly mammals. He must have a really great recipe for chaps cleaning fluid. All joking aside this was a great scene.

If a horse is TRULY wild green stock then they are like dogs that want to serve, be loved and cared for, and will be easy to be broke to a saddle and trained to help their master who shows them respect and caring.

I will give credit to the stuntmen that made the ride, however I always said that the rodeo way of bronc and bull riding should be illegal. If you put a TIGHTENED STRAP around my groin so tight I would do anything to STOP THE PAIN! Then I feel like a shock collar we should be able to put it on the PERSON, OR PERSONS responsible and see how they react to STOP THE PAIN!

P.S. If I was a Hollywood cowboy, I don't think I could act or be as popular as Tom has been in all of his scripted HOLLYWOOD westerns. There are some more accurate western movies, but few that are accurate enough to be proud of. ( many have guns with unlimited ammo) ? Thanks again.

Squeaky, I noticed within seconds the new gear, clean saddle, horn wrap, timid spirited SADDLE BROKE horse ETC. And he hasn't even mounted yet. Thanks for calling out the HOLLYWOOD B.S. But remember these movies are for the rubes that will fork out good money to watch Tom and just forget their life sucks enough to want to fantasize and escape reality for an hour or so. (and they can't afford for Tom to get hurt doing his own stunts)

This scene reminds me of the man who heard about a horse of exceptional fire and power. He went to see the horse with the idea of buying him and racing him. As he approached the stable, he could feel the energy of the beast humming through the walls of the structure even before he reached it. The owner of the horse agreed to let the man inspect the animal, and he opened the stall door. In a flash, that horse exploded out like a skyrocket. It ran pellmell, hellbent, across the yard. At the far side of the corral, it didn't slow down even a smidgen, but crashed right through the fence, and kept on going, leaving a scorched path across the field. It churned up the turf of that field like a beast possessed until finally it ran, full speed, smack-dab into a tree. Which knocked it unconscious. The man was astonished. "That's the most incredible horse I've ever seen in my life!" he exclaimed. "But who would ever want to buy a horse like that? That horse is blind!" The owner of the horse calmly leaned against the side of the barn, spat some chewing tobacco, and calmly replied, "Oh, he ain't blind. He just don't give a damn."

I think John Ford said "You can teach a cowboy to act but its damn near impossible to teach an actor to be a cowboy".
