This is awesome. I’ve never really understood improv before. To me this looks like the chaos and noise of life (the brights) dissected by the occasional calm (black and whites) with some balance thrown in (the leaf shapes). Amazing 💜 Thank you

I love the colors you are using. Very cheerful! The circles really added motion to the piece. My first thywas you were creating exotic plants or leaves. Maybe use the black and white piece under the circles but then that maybe just a bit to much. Have fun creating.

I obviously like it with the bias black and white striped strip 🙂I definitely think the background needs extending if you are putting three joy pieces across. I like the circles, but you know I'd say that!. I'm interested to see how quilting the joy pieces separate to the background turns out - I would never have thought of doing that but then that's why I watch; to learn from you! Thanks Karen.

I like the added sand to the sea glass quilt. I don’t know how you are Dale to choose the design you want to work on! I frankly liked several of the choices but each for a different reason. Alice turned out fabulously! I think I would go with facing all the way around Alice. I don’t think she wants anything to distract from her! The binding would frame her but I don’t think she would like being contained. She is to much of a free soul. Have a great week sewing!

I enjoy your videos so much. I think in a similar way and appreciate hearing a thought process that hits a cord with me. I like 3 with it share division -BUT I like 3a because it has more room to add a couple of larger sea glass pieces. The sea glass right now is a bit too uniform. By adding a couple of larger pieces of glass will give it a bit of air and a randomness to the random glass shape
@WarpedSpinster12 күн бұрын
Thanks, Barbara! Variety of scale is always a good idea, so some larger pieces of glass will probably figure in as the quilt gets larger. ☺️

3 is my favourite and facing all around Alice Wondering 🙂 To be honest I have never thought to combine facing and binding - I don't know why. However back to your beach glass and sand - how about one of the more layered ones but with white all the way round as a border - a very wide border?

3a and 5b, I like 5b because it tells a story. Im not sure what that story is, but with the few sand grains above, it seems they have escaped. Your Alice is a masterpiece. It's wonderful to have seen how you put it together and how wonderful it turned out.

3A is lovely, but what shows at 40:16 for a fraction of a second exactly by mistake is my favorite composistion. (3A and 5 visible at the same time) there is a triple juxtaposition happening. The density against the negative. the segreated seaglass against the overlaping circles and the cool against the warm. The bottom edge of the sand that overlaps onto the glass section (the only place it does) is a stoke of compositional genius. The small spray of sand at the top just brings a perfect amount of ballance.
@WarpedSpinster12 күн бұрын
Interesting! So you'd do more layering and overlap...Thanks for the suggestion! ❤️

I love this concept. Not a quilter but a clothes maker. My spin on it will have narrower white strips around the glass and even have some of the connecting strips will be glass. But none of my glass strips will touch, or maybe they will. And I'm not a fan of white or black so I will sub a tan or dark ecru. If I subbed charcoal grey for white then I'd use off white, light ecru, pale yellow and maybe pale seafoam green and palest blue. Either way I 'd have to incorporate a touch of amber (beer bottles) in either colour way I choose. Great idea!! Thank you. Wishing you a safe and happy 4th!!

You are such a good artist - I love your designs - and colors. When I first saw your X blocks/quilt I immediately saw the edges of your quilt as is - not a square or rectangle but just blocks protruding out from the sides in an irregular non conforming edge. Your X quilt is interesting. A thought I had when I saw it laid out was making X in rectangles. This would fill in some of the irregular holes. I did like the black and white stripes. How about using an assortment of multi-colored stripes on solid fabrics? Can't wait to see the next stage of this project. Thanks for sharing.
