Advice to dictators in our time, but good luck to any democratic leader that fully implements what“the Prince“ advises…. Democracy as we know did not exist in his time.. ps things did not work out well for Ceasare Borgia…

My brain explodes when I understand all of this. Let alone practice that, only a damaged brain can do that. I can only imagine how brutal the beginning of such dictatorship was in order to force the first generation of people to think this way.

The democrats have gone over board with this recently. Funny that their authoritarianism is being ignored while trying to accuse a man who took a bullet to protect democracy, of being a new hitler. Big business supported hitler. Big business supports kamala

Shakespeare was fascinated by the outsider (he himself was an outsider) who says to his oppressor “you made me what I am “ Caliban says this to Prospero in The Tempest. Shakespeare cannot rescue Shylock from History, but he can, and does, give him a voice. 2,000 years later, we should all grow up.

I always wondered if it was Oceania firing missiles at itself to perpetuate fear & war & to keep Big Brother eternally in power. Perhps the other two powers did something similar to maintain control over their populaces. 1984 remains my favourite book.

you can still be deceived , lied to, and even see death before your own eyes, if you are a loved human. Either way you lose. Watch The GodFather. He was always so nice to everyone and very well known, powerful, and loved. However he still got shot and death.

He reflected his world view and the paranoia of the time. Why didn’t Winston slide down into the proletariat? Orwell was a British writer….in other words he lived in a monarchy, which is blood line superiority. America knows better and lives it daily. His real name was Eric Arthur Blair and he died in 1950.

arguably the most important quote is the last line: "The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which." because its reverting animal farm back to manor farm [except worse].

"Can a man with a beard tell a bare-faced lie" is a classic case of Doublethink; it's neither true nor false, neither right nor wrong. A classic case of a razor-sharp conundrum. “Reality exists in the human mind and nowhere else.” ― George Orwell, 1984

The crux is this: If you desire to bring about a positive change, but are virtuous and fair, someone with less scruples will come along and dislodge you, leading to the rule of a tyrant. If you want to enact your virtuous ideals, you will have to use non-virtuous means in order to survive. See the world and humans as they are, not as you wish them to be.
