Thanks for the memories of this day. We hope to get back to the lodge one day soon. They suffered frozen/broken pipes over a year ago and it has not been open for meals there. They have moved all of that to the conference center. Hopefully they will get repairs done but the wheels of the state move slowly. We have lost our Perla in the group, the older lady with the long hair. She was a special person. We have lost Ralph, the gentle sweetheart asleep in the chair behind Reba the guitar player. Time is sometimes a thief, but to be absent in the flesh is to be present with Jesus, so there is comfort there.

In Colorado the guy coming up has the right of way, So when you're going down you're actually the one that should pull over and wait.

Beautiful scenery. Road is very close to a four lane highway! not a bump or pothole to be found.

Thanks for sharing your adventure. Interesting as this is a trail we didn’t do this year and thinking about it for next summer. We are also planning Ouray to Telluride and back home via Last Dollar. We live in Montrose. It time to give Corkscrew Pass a rest. Thanks for sharing and enjoy some of our Alpine Loop adventures. 😀👍

I'm still cleaning up from our first pre-winter 10 inches of snow last week. Second fall should be the end of this week, maybe two, mid 50's. I expect the second pre-winter around Thanksgiving, followed by maybe 48 hours of Indian Summer. Then that's all folks, until May.

So were those old Jetties put in place years ago to prevent erosion? I've seen them from here to Ludington and always wondered.
@rwandvj7717

Yes, most of the jetties and wooden seawalls are 30+ years old. These days, we see lots of huge rocks and steal sea walls . . . . very expensive. There's an advantage being perched up here on the hill.

As you can tell, we're a little late in responding to some of your comments. The Fox Farms segment is too far away to launch from the cottage. We find range much less than advertised. And, a minor technicality, the regulations say one must keep the drone in "line of sight" . . . geez, it can be right in front of my nose and I can't see it.

They are running the engine to charge the batteries..30 min to 1 hour most likely. Keeps the boat charged, to run lights, equipment, reefer, and such. They guy up the mast might be there to induce heeling to increase speed, which is why everyone was on one rail..it helps in low winds to help with sail shape.
@Panguinguy
@Panguinguy 2 жыл бұрын
The person on the bow (and I’m sure the rest of the crew not on deck) had their weight foreword to bring the stern of the boat out of the water. This reduces the aft wetted surface of the boat and the drag from touching the water.

We run the engine only to charge the batteries -- not for propulsion. Batteries power electronics, navigation lights at night, etc.

Yes but in zero wind the exhaust from the engine gives a tiny push.

I wanna play too! We need to get out in the Kayaks with that!
@rwandvj7717
@rwandvj7717 2 жыл бұрын
We've considered using the kayak as a launch pad . . . but there're two considerations: 1) rough and splashing water; and, 2) in an emergency (loss of control/signal), the drone returns to "Home Base" . . . as the kayak is likely to have moved, an emergency landing would be more like a 'ditching'.
