Question: Can the color of the dental pad be used instead of famacha
@susanschoenian40218 ай бұрын
Yes. The gums can be examined, too. Any mucous membrane However, the FAMACHA system has only quantified (researched) the color of other lower eyelid.

My kitten has this.. can I get this and how bad is it?? I’m pregnant & I’m scared about this. I also have pernicious anemia…. Please help if you have any info.
@susanschoenian402111 ай бұрын
Yes, cat coccidia (toxoplasmosis) is contagious to people and can cause a miscarriage. Don't clean the litter box. Consult with your doctor and veterinarian.

How much would you give to a 10 pound baby? Please
@susanschoenian402111 ай бұрын
10-lb. baby shouldn't need treated for barber pole worm. Worm needs a rumen. Must be something else.

Ok, the Solar Grazing is wonderful. However, what is the best way to get the solar grid system put in for a small farm? It looks expensive and a one time investment. 😎 Thanks.

Thank you for your webinars. It is highly informative from a practice point of view. however, I have a question. we were recommended to support anaemia related to worms burden by intramuscular injection of iron. How would you comment on this move? Does it make any sense when it's done together with deworming? Thank you in advance. Slovakia, East Europe

What can you say about coenurus cerebralis? This is the biggest issue for some especially in young animals here. We mostly have to cull animals.
@susanschoenian40213 жыл бұрын
Not familiar with this one. Similar to sheep measles, but a lot worse. Sounds like dogs are the point of control. Need to regularly deworm dogs for one. Albendazole may have effect at some stages in sheep/goat. www.farmhealthonline.com/US/disease-management/sheep-diseases/coenurosis/

Thank you very much. Do the lambs contaminate or get parasites from their mums by milking?
@susanschoenian40213 жыл бұрын
No worms are passed in placenta or milk. Dewormer is, though (some, e.g. moxidectin).

If Zero grazing is used How long does the doe and kids need to stay off pasture?
@susanschoenian40214 жыл бұрын
It depends on what your goal is. Eventually all of the worms will die off and egg counts will be reduced to zero. But it takes several months for this to happen. Sheep/goats raised in confinement don't usually have worm problems.

@@susanschoenian4021 I meant immediately after kidding we Jug them for about 3 to 7 days before putting out during the day with the herd. Is that long enough?
@susanschoenian40213 жыл бұрын
@@dori1oakes Sorry for not answering in a timely fashion. The PPER peaks anywhere from 2 weeks before to 8 weeks after lambing/kidding. 30 day son average. So really, you'd need them in the whole periparturient period to get the full benefit. On the other hand, any days spent off pasture are days that aren't being contaminated with worm eggs. BioWorma is a good alternative to keeping animals off pasture.

Great webinar. US anthelmintic products. Use of Bioworma in herds with resistant worms has worked well for my clients in Australia. Frightening % of herds with resistance to the different anthelmintic families.
@goatvetoz4 жыл бұрын
Good video. Many thanks. Australia has Drench Decision Guides for each region and for small holders with separate sections for sheep and goats, that allow you to put in worm egg counts and types of animals and condition to work out if drenching is needed. See www.wormboss.com.au . PS I use your www.wormx.info website all the time.

When mixed in the mineral can I put it out for free choice?
@susanschoenian40214 жыл бұрын
People talk about mixing BioWorma in the mineral, but I don't know how you're going to get the recommended dosage in them. You're going to need to mix in the BioWorma based on an assumed daily consumption of mineral, then make sure they consume this amount of mineral per day.

At about 26.30 he mentions goats do not ever develop immunity to parasites.I need more information on that where can I find it.
@susanschoenian40214 жыл бұрын
They do develop immunity, just not as good as other livestock species, including sheep. Their primary strategy via browsing is to avoid ingestion of infective worm larvae.

Congratulations. A very useful video. I prefer not to treat lice with an drug that is also an anthelmintic such as ivermectin. Lots of other options for lice, although I use ivermectin or similar for mites.
