Why would someone use this if they already own an UAD Apollo? Or, why do you use it if you have the Apollo and it's unison pres? Thank you.

Hi. Thank you for the video. I just wanted to know does it loop videos seamlessly or is there a jerk or a seconds break before the next video starts? My purpose is to have the videos play seamlessly and hence I am looking to buy it. Thank you

Little known fact (from the diagram): the expander reacts to the raw input signal, not the processed signal.

oh my goodness! This is the best explanation I've seen thus far for how to setup the dbx with the Shure sm7db -- I know you're using the sm7b (which I just sold). I'm a newbie to understanding audio and you've made this topic understandable. I'll check out your other videos as I'm on a mission to learn how to have the best audio for my content.

Congratulations on the video, I just have one question. Did the Friend use the Shure configuration in flirting? I'm talking about the three adjustment options behind the microphone. Hugs

Damn this is excellent explanation and can clearly hear the better results. Planning to buy the same setup TLM103 + DBX 286s with the Lynx AES16e.

I have NOT had a good experience with this device smoothly playing back recorded 4K .MOV camcorder content. The video stutters horribly / choppy audio.

Fact 6 to 10: this unit does not have a power switch (an odd item to leave out, really) and if you leave it run too many hours, the power supplies tend to fail. I just replaced the one in mine. You need to have a power bar or furman or whatever to be able to power it down when not in use otherwise you will replace a power supply more often than you would like. Nice little mixer, some really stupid firmware quirks, but generally a decent soundcraft sound. Not as good as the older ones, but better than many.

On the topic of flat vs presence boosted mics, one thing to keep in mind is that it’s easier to “tame” a pleasantly (not harshly) presence boosted mics, than to try to make a flat mic to stand out in post, especially if the talent/speaker has naturally flat/receding voice. That is, without bringing up the noise floor with EQ or overcompressing, I think. Cut before boost and so forth. That’s one reason the 103 is so popular in VO. It helps the voice cut through music bed etc. without sounding “too harsh” like Sennheiser MKH 416 might with some voices. Also fairly easy to tame with a simple shelf EQ. It’s a pretty great mic. And so is U87… and the Sennheiser MK4…
@nl4537Ай бұрын
If I understood correctly, the TLM 103 is basically a single diaphragm, transformerless version of U87, without the corrective EQ the U87 has built in. Without the corrective EQ, the highs would be more boosted on the U87, similar to 103. The transformer affects the lower frequencies, making it sound more “tight” and “controlled” (U87) vs “realistic” on 103. That’s the difference in technical level. Transformers are more expensive than transformerless designs, but also, transformerless mics are quieter (except the ones with really cheap components) and more “natural” sounding.

Hey, awesome and extremely detailed video Apologies for commenting so long after this was published, but I was thinking about getting and using a RE20 on my desktop computer & was wondering what the best setup would be to use in order for that to work. I mainly question what interface to pair with the 286S (if any at all) and what other cords, cables, or connectors I'd need to hook everything up. I'm new to all this audio stuff, but very eager to learn and figure out what works best for my intents and purposes
