5:12 is that kicker you are trying to loose ? Or main sheet is just strange to see it coming from the cockpit (to me)
@PeterGustafsson3 ай бұрын
Yup, it’s the kicker. Main sheet is on the cockpit floor, but much harder to work after a broach.
@aw32774 ай бұрын
What they're doing is easing on the puffs and then tightening to get the boat to surf up on the waves. Notice the boat to the left which almost broaches. Helm is playing real close to a major jibe but the wind is not switching enough to cause that kind of surprise so he can get away with it.

Great video! Those choices of going with the kite versus playing it safe are the hardest! Looks like you still did well though. Great job!

Nope, it's the standard Open 7.50 wing mast.

The point of sailing so close to obstacles??

Nice video, but one question came to mind. Have you ever considered attaching your harness in the middle of the boat, so that you can not fall overboard. Now if you fall overboard you will potentially have a slow and painful death?

Lots of use for the Code 0 sail, is it the Helix sail and therefore tacked to the end of the sprit?

Yes, it's the newer Code 0 Helix. Awesome sail.

How is it possible that there are boats to pass (like they are standing still) downwind. Is the boat really slow upwind?

@kisero2222 Жыл бұрын
8:05 pretty interesting , you guys didn’t consider broad reaching for more speed and stable hike ? Or maybe the J doesn’t need that ? I sail a seascape 27 on that track it would have been safer to broad roach and jibe if necessary to compensate. Thanks for the videos.

At the time we were not confident putting up the A5. We had 40 knots in the gusts and most boats around had problems with their spinnakers. We’ve since re-designed tha A5/A6 and made it fractional. Next time in similar conditions we’ll have one up 😀

I said before the race, "I hope I hate this" since that would have made my life easier. But I loved it and would like to do it again. Sadly, the next edition in 2025 is at the same time as Transpac, which has been at the top of the bucket list for a while.
