I am determined to become an expert at rail in this game.. It hasn't happened yet, but I will get there in the end. I am new to the game from 1.0, have 150 hours in it so far and still feel like a noob. If I keep watching these rail videos in will all just click one day right?... Right?... 😵‍💫

"The bridge episode" :D :D I feel your pain re the demoished rail. At least it happened with demolition turned on. I came across that bug, but that happened a long time ago, approximately when you were at season 5 and 6, and it erased everything of that type of infrastructure on the map. At least once it took out all footpaths, including ones that couldn't be placed again (due to rail crossings, collision boxes and whatnot). Reloading an earlier auto save was the only rescue. I thought that this bug was fixed though. I reported it to the devs IIRC. BTW, I don't 100% get the reasoning / reason behind the rail layout you used. Wouldn't it had been better to just send each track from the end stations to one track each on the large station? Or possibly have a crossover between each such pair of tracks, but not more? My thinking is that if the end stations send out trains more often than the large station can accept then there just are too many trains on the line(s) that the end station in question serves, and the large station will never keep up. Or is the idea that you have some lines with many trains and some with fewer trains and thus some end station sends out trains seldom while the other sends them out more often? Also if you want to supply the future airplane production with trains then you kind of need the coastal rail line anyways. On the other hand it's close enough to both cities that you could run a spur from the tram from the large city, and a bus line from the initial island city, to supply workers. I assume that you have already built a lot of this by now, but anyways the cargo trains could just go on the outside (i.e. mountain/"bauxite" side) of the passenger station. Side track re earlier episodes: Hindsight is 2020 but maybe building a wood/boards industry would had cost less than the ship that imports wood/boards does? Not that it makes much money but since you anyway have ships importing steel/bricks/prefabs the storages for those materials could hold some boards and the ships could be set to load whatever is in there and export it while they anyway go to the border to import stuff.

It may be far too late, or maybe not... 1/ a bit of terraforming would have helped with the tram access tunnel : taking the height from the tram side and applying it a bit on the other side would have made it easy :) 2/ about tunnels.. what I've been doing is first get the tunnel I really want, then do a parrallel one (not on the side I want a parrallel), then cancel the first tunnel. After that, doing the tunnel I really want chunk by chunk, following the parrallel. after placing each chunk, place a signal, then apply the plan. This will allow you to have functionning signals in tunnels ;) 3/ also... why not use the Q/E keys to play with the tunnel depth ? :p

46:30 2.4t fabric consumption is 48% of maximum (5t) production. Productivity isn't important (kz it's about the same for both) we just need a ratio. So 48 workers (which is 48% of total 100)) at fabric plus 80 on clothing = 128 in total. 48 is 37.5% of total 80 is 62.5% of total that is your proportion. ofc you need slightly more on fabric. kz extra fabric in stock is better then downtime on clothing factory

92% for the water well is not good. The treatment plant brings it up to 99%. If you have a 95% source, it has to do 4%, from 92% it's 7%. The chemical use is proportional, so you need 75% more chemicals. It really pays to invest into a longer pipe to a clean source.

Vehicle production: I use several smaller Vehicle production factories on my maps because I found that it is much easier to produce a variety of vehicles at once or quickly change an order, for example cars in one, trucks. buses, tankers, emergency vehicles or farm equipment etc. in the others rather than one large factory. Also their pollution is minimal so they can be built in smaller towns where workers can walk to them as well as either a small mech. components, electronics or electrical components factory and shared warehouse. (current map has four of them, the mod is called "Motor Works") You could have one or two large factories building vehicles for export and several smaller ones for automatic vehicle replacement in your republic as an example. Cheers 🙂

Isn't parking space for 28 buses a bit much? Like if you have more than 1-2 buses waiting, there are too many on the line or they should have frequency increased. As for 20 years of survival without input, yesterday substation powering water wells in my city burned down. 2k+ pops died. :< Would CO pick up it for rebuild? about tunnels : if you build the tunnel after the infrastructure that's above it, it wants 9m height separation but ! if you build / plan the tunnel before the infrastructure that will be above it, you can do away with only 6m of height separation ! It even works with multiple tunnels : for ground + 2 tunnels , first plan the tunnel that will be the deepest at 12m depth, then the one above it at 6m depth, and finally, place the overground infrastructure you want :D

Favorite season so far! Loving the combination bus/tram/train station, feels very grand eastern block civic project. To your knowledge, does the percentage of wear you have your repair stations set to repair at lower, vehicles getting repaired with less wear and tear more frequently, extend vehicle life? Might be a good test for a more extreme version of this challenge where you do 20 years no clicks and no imports?
@bballjo
@bballjo 2 күн бұрын
I haven't had the courage to look into maintenance that closely...but it's also why I don't want to go too much past the 20ish years...100years would really show the problems here...but my hypothesis is that it should not really affect the wear...I'm assuming a vehicle has a total of 1500% of wear and tear (or similar) which means that it can be repaired 15 times, but all it does it reset the wear to 0...so 50% and repair would mean 50/1500% wear and tear but 0% current wear and tear... repair again at 60% and you're at 110/1500%. This is over simplified, because I know that you don't actually get back to 0% each time...but I'd guess the sliding scale still holds?
@Thesecret101-te1lm
@Thesecret101-te1lm 2 күн бұрын
@@bballjo My gut feeling is that the repairs work "indefinitely" but they take more and more time. The end result is that if an end station is connected to a repair station it will sit full ofvehicles and nothing happens and you will not understand why everything seems stuck, but replacing the vehicles makes things move again.

Bad conclusion. Lets compare starting options. 86% quality Medium Brick House for 110 flats/workers ~20192 roubles 68% quality Large Brick House for 157 flats/workers ~23060 roubles Other houses are only for 10-50 flats and not a real option. 184 vs 147 roubles per flat which is only 20% cheaper (or 25% more expensive) 20 med for 2200 flats/workers = 403840r 14 large for 2198 flats/workers = 322840r 81000r economy But how much is this compared to the rest of the city's infrastructure? Smallest mandatory buildings ( fire, police, culture, sport, shopping, edu etc) around 150k roubles Heat system around 100k Electro around 30k Water/Sewage rly depends ... but could be from 20k to 200k or to the Moon Other like roads, warehouses, monuments etc etc etc 100k Vehicles for transport, build, supply, waste 150-300k First industry? Or what is all this for? Another 100-200-300k roubles. So i don't know how much it would be in total. It rly depends on your playstyle/goals. But total economy would be just few percents and you will loose same/bigger percent in productivity. Which will lead you to build more flats and gain more workers to maintain same production rate. Which result in more everyday spendings and maybe some more infrastructure/transport etc. And definately not worth it.
