My first and current motorcycle is a 2009 Honda Shadow Aero. I bought it last December with 23k miles and it currently has a little over 31k. I have learned many things over the past year. For long distance, a quiet bike is a must. The Gold Wing's smooth flat 6 engine is also very attractive. Engine vibrations get annoying after riding for hours upon hours. An adjustable windscreen would be amazing! I have come to realize that mid controls are the best for me. I can stand up that way when going over big bumps. I personally think the Gold Wing looks like a some sort of star cruiser battleship thing. It looks awesome in my opinion! The forward crawl function would be great for loading the bike on a trailer too. You wouldn't even have to sit on it. The fact that it can burn 87 octane fuel is a HUGE benefit. There's so many nice things about a Gold Wing!

I got my brand new Z900 2024 a few months ago. I traded in my Suzuki GSXS1000 for this Z900. I have two other bikes, a Honda CB500F 2019 and a Kawasaki Z650 2021 that I ride for commuting to work. The Suzuki is too much power for me so I went from 160 or more HP to the Z900 2024 @ 125 HP. I feel the Z900 is much more smooth, brakes and suspension are/is much better than the GSXS1000. I'm a small guy, 5'5", 140 lbs. I still think the Z900 is too much power for me, the Z650 is more than enough for my commuting but for long distances I ride the Z900 and works really good. In the streets the Z900 is too wide and heavy and it is very hard for me to maneuver it, specially between the cars or parking lots. The Z650 & CB500F are very nimble, narrower, easy to maneuver in very tight spaces, but still lots of power to take off. I have modified the rear sprockets on all three bikes to have longer gearing. The Z900 & Z650 have been decat & ECU flashed for better performance. The Z900 has been lowered to get me feet flat on the floor. Also I installed a 41T rear sprocket and a 16T front sprocket, I may try the 17T sprocket, I don't feel much difference going from the 15T stock to 16T.

keep exploring - you haven't explored deep enough into the motorcycling world if you think the goldwing is the best. For myself, I'd much rather ride my BMW K1600GLX with all the bells and whistles and superior in every other useable way without sacrificing passenger or rider comfort. If your criteria of baggage capacity is important then buy a honda civic. It isn't even the biggest anymore and a new king of the dressers has arrived on the market in the guise of the Great Wall Motor Company's Souo S2000GL which is a boxer 8 with 2000cc of engine and loads of cargo/passenger space for those who need those. Big engine, big bike, pretty colours and no idiotic air bag (who thought that one up). I'd have one in my garage way before I plunked money down on another Honda. My last Honda was the '82 CBX. Do a head to head comparison on the Souo and get back to me. You might find that there is a new ultimate and Honda has slid down the hill. Even the Harley, Indian and Yamaha touring yachts are as good as the wing anytime. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gbmggMaEsLSRZ4E.html

Nope sorry I’ve owned one, wasn’t the magic carpet ride they all keep going on about, lazy man’s machine in the DCT and cornering in the wrong gears meant it needed to be changed up or down manually every time plus sometimes downright dangerous and I’m an advanced rider, sorry folks doesn’t compare to the hundreds of miles per day I can do on my GS, the GS has better suspension power and riding position and it’s a proper bike, not like the oversized twist and go.

I've been riding motorcycles since a kid. Dirt and street. Currently have an FZ10. Lately been doing much research on '18+ Goldwing. I haven't ridden one but can't decide between manual or DCT. I'm interested in this Goldwing to relax and cruise so I'm leaning more toward DCT. Although I'm hearing negatives on low speed control.... Dealers not working on 10 yr old Goldwing is not even a small problem with me. I do my own maintenance, even the dreaded air filter swap, and for bigger issues (not that I’ve had any), there is a great independent shop 30 min away with mechanics who know Goldwings better than any dealer.

Hard to argue against the Wing, but I will… I’ve owned several years of GoldWing motorcycles. I now own the Indian Pursuit. The Pursuit has the following over the Wing, even the latest generation (which I used to own- DCT Tour airbag model): a customizable 7” TFT screen, an electronically customizable rear suspension that you can dial in the weights of the rider, passenger, light luggage, heavy luggage, tour pack/no tour pack, vertical loading saddlebags, a tour pack that can pop off in 5 minutes if you’d like, there is more luggage capacity on the Pursuit and it has larger cubbies to put stuff in. The Pursuit suspension is more compliant than the Wing is. The Pursuit handles better than the Wing does and I had them both at the same time. When I would ride one and then immediately jump on the other bike,I wanted the Wing to handle and ride better but I am going to be honest and say the Pursuit always felt more athletic to me while having better suspension. The Wing IS an incredible motorcycle, but the Pursuit is just that much better IMHO. I’ve been a rider for 45 years, I am a retired motor officer and I am NOT a Wing hater. FWIW. 👍🏼

I was late to the GoldWing party by 2 years. My first Wing was 1977. A couple years later I purchased a 79. Has Vetter fairings on them and euro style removable luggage. My last one was a 1991 Anniversary edition in Gold. All together, I have over 400,000 miles on motorcycle in all seasons, including ice and snow. 99% of my miles are on Wings, and my next high miles bike was a V8 made in Canada. I've owned Suzuki, Kawasaki, Honda, and a Big Brute. Nothing comes close to all the boxes a GoldWing checks perfectly. I've been sitting in a recliner for 6 years because of a leg issue. Watching your Wing videos, something inside me clicked, and I woke up from my long nap. Thank you for your wake up videos that have inspired me to get off my ass and walk/ride again. One step at a time, but I'm coming back! I want the automatic version with no trunk and a trailer hitch for a small trailer. My psst bikes I always did full custom, 1st place bike show winners, but I'm over that, next I'm going full stock, maybe a seat upgrade and that trailer hitch. Color, anything except dark. Something like yours would be great.

The old saying of, ride like they don't see you, holds true in today's riding world more than ever. Motorcycles aren't dangerous in themselves, usually it's the nut riding them. People think and say 'cycles are dangerous because every time they see or read about a crash in the news, the rider dies. All I can say is, always wear a helmet, and ride defensively. Having to accommodate a passenger comfortably really limits your choices. I used to have lots of sportier bikes along with my Harley’s but can’t justify it now. Now if you ask me which one is my favorite? I will have to go with the BMW K1600GT. Why? Because it allows me to have 2 bikes for the price of one! If I want to tour, I leave the side cases as well as the top case attached and if I decide I want to ride a sport bike...Well, I simply remove the cases and go tear up the twisties with now a lighter and easier to handle number 2 bike!
