This was one of my favorite shows while in the band. The Vegas/USA Places show was a close second.

Kent Sills was my director in the FMB! I loved the man so much. I remember one day he told me, “Little Loftin, as feature twirler, you are the icing on the cake-the window dressing.” My family got a kick out of that- a doc-Ism. He always looked at me over those half glasses when I went into his office. He was never too busy to talk to anyone- 400 plus members. He deserves this honor!

So weird to think how I went from marching in the Honor Band to being a sousaphone player in the FMB the next fall. Crazy times, but I have loved being in the FMB. Hail State!

I still get a thrill watching MSU Band. I was last a member in 1970, and it was so exciting to be a part of that group with Dr. Kent Sills as our beloved director!!
