Nice tip! Will try this out in a minute. I saw with much pleasure that you use tyre levers to get the tyre back on the rim. I saw a (dutch) video in which the guy said: Whatever you do, DON't use tyre levers to put the tyre back on. But I, already for over 30 years, use my (plastic) tyre levers as there is now other way to get them on! I'll let you know if your trick worked for me, though I first want to try this without taking the tyre off. I'll deflate them and wet the tyre like that ;-). EDIT:15 minutes later: Reseated 2 tyres perfectly! Didn't take them off the rim, but deinflated them, sprayed (someone below came up with that great idea) both sides and after that inflated to 50psi. The second tyre almost give me a heart attack, as it 'popped' very loudly, I thought I blew my tyre 🙂. Perfect advise, thank you very much!

Thank you! Just adding to the long line of people who solved the issue like this. No more bumpy ride on a smooth road. Note - for me it only worked after I really soaked the tire with a soft brush. Using little water with a rag didn't work, nor did WD40 like some people recommended. Also there was no popping sound in my case. It's a little weird that a bike technician told me my wobble was totally normal (apparently sometimes tires just come out like that from factory) and there's nothing I can do about it. Fortunately he wasn't convincing me to buy a new tire, although I was seriously considering it. I rode with a bumpy wheel for about a year because it never occurred to me to lube the darn thing and pump it way above the recommended pressure, I was only pumping just a tad above it. Now I feel stupid for both myself and that "technician" but I'm super glad I solved this.

Sick and tyred (pun intended) of putting my trust in to KZfaqrs whom I believe know better. Watched a video of one guy who told us to knead the tyre around the rim and then deflate it then knead the tyre and pump it. Tired again and again and again to no avail and thought I’d just ride the bike like a clown bike in the circus. Watched your video and came to the conclusion that I’ve always come to. The simple things are usually the best things. Now I have no wobble. Was a little scary as my pump doesn’t have a pressure gauge so pumped with faith. Two pops later, no wobble. Didn’t work for me with the soap suds first time or second… probably because I lost my nerves with the pump so I used WD40 and there you go. Sir you are a legend for keeping it real and keeping it simple, as life should be. Long may you reign. B

Nice one!!! I had the same problem with 20x4.0 fatbike tyre - this soapy water trick helped a lot - thanks👍. I just deflated and used medium size paintbrush to give a good dose of soapy water on the tyre and rim. Also even though I over inflated I did not get the "pop" so ended up half inflation and massaging the tyre inward and away with from the rim with my palms to get it to pop in place. I did this all the way around on both sides to get the mounting line as even as possible.

Can confirm this worked for me. I didn't even take the wheel off the bike. Just turned that baby upside down, deflated and ran some soap around the rim. Inflated and done. Fyi this wobble is more common on folding tires than ones with a wire bead in my experience.

Servicing bikes over 10 years now and from my experience this is the biggest issue with Schwalbe tires in general (especially wired ones) that dont sit in place properly. Tires that I had zero issues with when mounting are Continentals, althought their side walls are weakest part so they are not for long run compared to Schwalbe.

A very nice and informative video! Instead of soap and water I use cooking oil. That is the only thing that I do differently.

So will this work on my fat tire e-bike? I assume it will. Just got the bike put it together and the tire is a little wobbly I don't think it's the rim but I can never get that pop that people talk about, what I do see on the sidewall the seam is out further than at other part's of the tire, do I want that same out of the rim all around or inside I'm never sure about that I've never had wobbly tires really other than the one I just got any help would be great thank you
@NorthCountryMTB4 ай бұрын
Yeah I would try the soapy water and with it being a fat tire you might have to pump even more air in It to get the bead to seal. Hope it works out for you!

Tried everything and still got the uneven wobble. Is it a Schwalbe thing?. Been fitting many tyres over the years and always sorted. Before I throw the lot down the road I will sleep on the idea and tune back in tomorrow.

Can I do anything with a defect tire? My rim is trued and I can see the bead line consistent all around. Swapped front to back, same issue. For now, my best option is to mount it in the rear and avoid messing up with the steering.

Will i have to remove the tire and the air out of it before doing it or can i just add the soapy water and try and fill the air a little more

You can try - I’d let all the air out then work soapy water in around the rim then shoot it up with air.
