I think most English people would like a united ireland and to come out of Northern Ireland. But should we abandon our moral duty to the people of Northern Ireland and withdraw. Especially years ago , when many people from Northern Ireland would have been massacred like the Palestinians. No one condones the behaviour of the English when they completely occupied Ireland. But it is a political minefield. Now that Sinn Fein are the biggest party in NI you may get an independence vote. It would have been very irresponsible not to defend the nationalists. It was the nationalists that were being attacked , the English army weren’t going into southern Ireland and killing people after the border went up
