I absolutely love this fish. I got one awhile back and i had it for about a couple months and it was doing well. It was eating and picking at the rocks. It would eat out of my hand and then just died suddenly. Absolutely showed no signs of being sick or anything. I was devastated cause it was my favorite one. When i first got it my sailfin tang was a bit of a bully to it but that only lasted a few days. I still have no idea what happened to it.

I had the same issue with a standard naso. I just bought a blonde version who is a bit bigger so hopefully he is a bit harder.

Did you give up on the sulfur reactor ? How’s the nitrates ?
@BlueCarbonReefing11 ай бұрын
Nitrates are great. I couldn't get the sulfur reactor to go through enough flow to reduce them. I now actually dose nitrates to my system to keep them where I want then. Ultimately I grew a ton of chaeto and it knocked down the nitrates over the course of a few months

I dont ever hear people go into detail about the spines. So he won't come after my If im just putting my hand in the tank? Or will they sting if I try to handle or handfeed?
@BlueCarbonReefing Жыл бұрын
I would assume most accidents will happen when they are scared. I doubt that they will come after you with thier spines on purpose. They are used in defensive situations not offensive. Hand feed at your own risk.

Hi Blue, does this system works? I saw a video, of the upgrade. I am trying to do the same as with your bashsea setup.
@BlueCarbonReefing Жыл бұрын
It did not work great for me but that may have been my system or something it lacked. I could never turn up the flow high enough to make a dent into the nitrates at the time. It did Ultimately work but was not turning over enough water to bring the overall numbers down. My final solution was growing chaeto..

The main return pump being used is a reeflo hammerhead gold hybrid.. I'm estimating the head height at about 16 feet before any turns or 90s affect it more

@@BlueCarbonReefing just out of curiosity what are your silicate numbers? Many people have said to adding silicates to your reef tank to encourage diatom growth to outcompete the Dinos. Well I did and my dinos went nuts. So I tried just the opposite to remove them. My TDS test say that I have high silicates in my tank. Even before I dosed. I have the worst city water of 540 TDS. So I tested after the rodi and I was getting a .25 of silicates after my ro. So I have added phosguard and gfo inline of all my other filters. So now I have zero phosphates coming out of my Ro. Dinos seem to be less then before. Just something to check. I've done two complete teardowns with all new rock and all new sand and all new water. Now it's almost been 3 years and they're still with me. I am not giving up.

I see more and more people in different posts having the same issues. I tried all the regiments I could read. I also tried all the bacterias, UV sterilizer, hydrogen peroxide, bubble scrubbing, Dino X, phytoplankton, increase temperature to 83°F, Vibrant, ICP test, adding silicates, don't do it they increased like wildfire. Dr Tim's regiment, 4 month black outs. And of course raise nitrates 10ppm and phosphates .9 What are they thriving off of?

I took the nuclear approach like resident evil and nuke the tank. I turn off lights for 2 weeks and did multiple dips of hydrogen peroxide dips on corals. I decided it’s worth some coral lost. The entire point is for tank to look good. Under microscope I got the worst kind of Dino.

Appreciate your work and I have definitely learned something from this video. I am currently battling HIGH NO3 and PO4 after a H2O2 treatment for 12 weeks and absolute heavy feedings. NO3 tipping on the NYOS Nitrate Kit and PO4 the Hanna can’t even read and flashing at 2.5ppm. I will definitely buy the Aquamaxx CaRx and use that as the Sulphur De-Nitrator to reduce NO3 and not worry about not feeding enough to all my fin friends. Once again thank you for sharing.
