You failed to mention that the 2 silver screws holding down the cartridge tray are color coded to let you know that they are designated for those 2 holes only.

The original connector can and should be repaired. The metals and materials made for the original NES were of the highest quality. All you need to do is get some 91 or better percentage alcohol and a tiny flat head eye glass screwdriver. Bend the pins carefully until the circuit booted the cartridge fits tight again and clean thoroughly. That's all she wrote. Ain't gotta spend a dollar unless you don't have alcohol or a screwdriver. And yes my original 72 pin works like a day one. I would never put one of those 3rd party ones in. That's like throwing out a diamond and installing a turd. It's unfortunate but we now live in a throw away society. It's sad. But I can tell you this for sure. That NES and it's parts were. built to last and have already stood the test of time. My NES will be 40 soon. I am still using my original connector and probably will for another 50. Please just try what I said before buying that garbage replacement connector. It will work. In my day we used quality . materials built to last. You got nothing to loose only money and history to save!

If the parts (eg. 72-PIN connector) were built to last, then explain why they wear out to the point they need to be replaced?
@ClayGravil23 сағат бұрын
@@kbramlett6877 The repeated insertion and removal flexes those pins until they no longer make good contact. They're essentially springs. and springs deform (and weaken) with use, aka inserts and removals. As mentioned, cleaning the contacts, then forming the pins back to their original fitment against the cartridge solves the issue 99% of the time. Some of these consoles are over 35 years old. That all we have to do is clean them and realign the pins so they make good contact is a testament to the quality of the original parts, and they'll likely last a couple more decades before they need maintained again.
@samuraijaydeeКүн бұрын
Glad you got yours fixed. There's a chip on the main board, that you can cut the leg of, and pull to ground, which disables the entire check. Also it's possible to bend your original pins in the U bend edge connector they just get over bent with use. Lastly, it's not a heat shelf, it's a RF (radio frequency ) faraday cage you're unscrewing; it prevents the graphics and sound from interference by radio waves and power sources nearby.

I got this laptop during a vacationtrip to the USA as a stop gap unit after my personal laptop was stolen in my car. At 279 $US on sale, it was the second cheapest laptop I could find in a local Walmart, the other one being the same model but with a Celeron and 4GB of ram that retailers at 199 $US. I owned it as my main laptop now for 2 years. The only changes I did was to install a 2TB SSD in that expansion slot and upgrade the wattage from 15w to 25w. Perhaps I should try 30w like you! Does it overheat? Also maybe this is why you are not getting the whole 10 hours of battery life. However, build quality is really where they cheapened out. I took special precautions to protect it like keeping the white tissues that separate screen from keyboard in shipping and having a neoprene sleeve to transport it. Even so, the hard plastic in the body flexes like crazy when you open or close the lid (I wonder if it will just snap at some point) and my monitor unglued itself while I was typing. I had it repaired in a cell phone screen repair shop. Finally, my left "ctrl" key stopped working after about a year of ownership involving travelling around with it on a daily basis. Finally, people sees my bright blue laptop and when they notice the Gateway logo, they smile

Is ComicSkins that only company that is making Do it yourself Slabs? I have heard that the older or current CGC, CBCS, PGX slab wells used a type of Acid that would ruin the comic books. Do you know what this Acid is called? Also the Slabs also cause the comic book pages to oxidize the white pages into yellowish pages because its trapped inside a Slab?

The thing to remember about the PS2 was that Sony talked up the hardware to high heaven pre-launch but were later forced to concede that the system was nowhere near as powerful as initially claimed. Performance wise, the PS2 and Dreamcast were far closer than people thought at the time, with the Dreamcast having some distinct advantages in anti-ailising and lighting abilities.
@thedigitaldivide39589 күн бұрын
They were both great consoles. I think Sega wanted to give the Dreamcast a head start, and they did that along side a really impressive launch library. I still don’t get why the console failed as hard as it did.

Yet Sega makes very little effort to re-release anything. They are insane to only focus on new games, whilst ignoring all their history. The PS2 Sega Ages collections were a good start in the 2000s, unfortunately even those stayed for Japan Only and very few knew they were even happening at the time due to the still active territorial media blackouts. Consumers will have to wait generations to pass until copyright ends and they can be re-released freely by new publishers.

Sp fascinating! Had no idea symbiotes were thought up by a fan. Too bad he didn't get more for his idea, but I doubt the fan would have got anything from it if not for Marvel. Ideas are a dime a doze, it's the execution that matters, and with the resources Marvel has, they were able to execute on this seed of an idea and turn it into what we know today. Still, it would be cool if they hired the fan to do some work for them and gave him some more spotlight.

Saturn is such an inaccessible console if you want to play United States versions of most of its games. Importing games are much cheaper, but that's not too useful if you can read Japanese and are playing any games with a lot of text. At least emulation is great, and every year we hear about various Saturn games finally being translated after being stuck in Japan since its launch.
@thedigitaldivide395825 күн бұрын
100% agree. It’s a very expensive console to collect for and flippers tend to grab up the few yard sale finds that are left. I love Japan and Japanese culture, but sadly I don’t speak the language and don’t care to deal with importing stuff from there. I only collect US copies of Saturn games at the moment and I have a pseudo saturn cart to play backup discs
@Parlimant_Strifey25 күн бұрын
I try to play the two games at once thing, i.e. the game and the implied narrative of non-communication. Fighting against a lack of translation is just a second game within a game, most people just want to be lazy about not having their hand held in the interactive media sphere. I take up the challenge all the time, of course it is pointless with an RPG (but then I don't play those).
@professorhaystacks660625 күн бұрын
I got Rayearth from a church 'virtual yard sale' years ago for... well still quite a bit but considering it was complete with only minor box and manual damage, it was a lot less than it's going for these days. Let's just say less than what disc-only was going for on those ebay captures. If you're curious about the damage, the stickers had fallen off (though they were there), and the hinge on the box was broken (common on the Saturn and Sega CD cases). Most of the prices these days are, imho, artificially inflated by things like that sealed Super Mario Bros. game selling for so much. Regarding the Rayearth game, I kinda hate that they removed most of the voiced lines as US audiences found it distracting. It was ahead of its time.

When you talked about fighting games you left out two japanese exclusive that, in my humble opinion, are both better than Marvel vs Capcom2. I am talking about Capcom vs SNK 2 and Guilty Gear X. The last one has the most beautiful 2D graphics of any Dreamcast game and it really shows how Arc System Works had the edge over Capcom.

How hard is it to fit in the back of your average car trunk? If I need to order an Uber, am I going to have a hard time relying on this thing being able to fit (as compared to the Ninebot G30p)?
@thedigitaldivide395827 күн бұрын
It’s on the larger side. If you have an SUV, it’ll fit in the trunk no problem. I have a 4 door sedan, so I typically throw it in the backseat. I’m sure you could make it work, but it will be a very tight fit compared to the G30p due to the taller stem height
Avengers #4 is the 1st silver age appearance of Captain America and his official introduction to the team. A great cover as well. Never actually heard what the actual record sounded like. Pretty cool.

Let me tell you something divide, Sony isn't any better. As a matter of fact, they may be worse. The Saturn easily should have won that console war, mistakes made, or not. Many times I witnessed either bias, or corruption from the game magazines reviewing Saturn games. Purposefully giving very good games (like SFA3) a lower score, or saying that "the super shadows didn't look quite right" which means either Sony was paying them off. Or they just hated it, and despite all that I supported them after putting Sega out of business. I gave them thousands of hours of my time, and money the last 25 years. And if you look at how bad they are now, a corrupt company that's literally destroying the game industry with their new "diversity" company hiring practices. They've always been corrupt, but no one ever says anything bad about them. God forbid they do, but that's exactly what they deserve. As to me the Sega Saturn is the best system ever made, period. Sounds biased? Sounds a lot like the way fans fanatically support Sony, who can apparently do no wrong.
