That is a great buck. On that fist deer, 35 yards is just too damn far for whitetail. They can move way too much by the time an arrow can get to them. If one is not sure the shot is going to give you the best option for an ethical kill, don't take it. Wait for the right shot, and that may be another day. Your excitement reminds me of my younger days bowhunting whitetail.

Those adjustable single pin sights are truly the DUMBEST IDEA for hunters in my opinion. Deer never hold still for long which results in constantly needing to adjust the sight even after you’re at full draw.
@Hogmister11
@Hogmister11 Күн бұрын
It has its advantages and disadvantages. It’s helped me on deer more than it’s hurt me. I’ve got alot of deer on the wall because of the one pin. Makes a big difference on accuracy and sight picture on long shots and between yardages past 30 but the downfall is the adjustments. Thanks for watching 👍🏻

3 pin sliders are the way to go! Less fuss when they are inside 40 because your pins are set (Depending on how you sight your pins in) Then anything beyond that your bottom pin is the floater when you adjust for yardages. Thing to remember is to always set your slider back to zero when your done shooting at further yardages, I've learned that one the hard way once or twice but It's honestly well worth the switch. Also great video and way to show to reality of what bowhunting can be, Highs and lows are the swings we have to go through but in the end i wouldn't trade it for anything in this world. Thanks for the watch!

I started hunting with a single pin about 6yrs ago. I set it and leave it and ive never had to move it on an animal, but my furthest shot is usually no further than 35 yds. Practice your 30 pin at 20 and 35 yds. Know your bow and youll never have to move your pin unless your shooting further.

very nice, i noticed on your second buck you got a flinch/drop with the front hand of your bow right before you shoot, also their is absolutely no reason that arrow shouldn't have passed through beside your broadhead choice, try some magnus black hornets out.
@Hogmister11
@Hogmister11 8 күн бұрын
Yeah it may have hit a rib or something… I’ve noticed that some close range shots 10 yards and under there’s not alot of momentum for an arrow to penetrate good.… half the arrow was more than enough tho . I’ve had a lot of success with that broadhead and arrow setup with a few blowing through both shoulders past 40 yards. Those hunts are on my channel as well if you would like to watch them. @Hogmister11
@Hogmister11 9 күн бұрын
They are for hunting as well and work great for long range shots. I shoot heavy arrows so there’s a big difference between each yard especially past 30 yards . They allow for precise accuracy. The unobstructed view reduces confusion. A one pin allows you to focus more on aiming and panic is reduced. They provide a clearer sight picture and faster target acquisition. Thanks for watching

Congrats! That’s a stud on public! I see a lot of people are giving you a hard time. You gotta take the bad with the good. Hunting is always about improving and growing. Keyboard warriors who don’t self film are clueless. Good on you for sticking with it and getting the redemption! If I can offer food for thought, you are pretty deep into your peep which can indicate that you might benefit from a shorter draw length. I noticed you pulled out of your peep on the shot. Having a reference point on your string like a nose button might help to have a more consistent anchor and increase your accuracy and a shorter draw may prevent you from letting up in a quick draw scenario. Might be worth having someone at a shop take a look at your draw length and add a nose button for you. A half inch can make a world of difference. Cheers 🍻

I appreciate it man… yeah I don’t pay any attention to the keyboard warriors… it’s those who have never tried to self film a bow hunt that spread the hate… they would be humbled if they actually gave it a try… I appreciate the advice, I do feel like I would benefit from a nose button and I may give that a try this year… thanks for watching and good luck this season 👍🏻

I’ve hunted with single pin 15+ years and killed many deer. It’s not an issue you don’t have freak out and constantly move your sight as some people think. Know your equipment by practicing and be willing to pass the shot if situation isn’t right.

Justin throw that sight in the trash while hunting in the woods. Get one with 20,30,40,50,60 yard pins. I see so many people loosing game for that reason forgetting to adjust their sight. Animals are moving all the time and not staying at a peticular yard. I a deer move 5 to 10 yards from your last adjustment to the sight. You have to let down re adjust the sight and then re draw and not be seen. So much easier to use multiple pins.
@Hogmister11
@Hogmister11 10 күн бұрын
I agree…it has its perks though… although it cost me that deer it’s also helped me make some long range shots on several deer. Since going to the one pin I have improved my accuracy 10-1 compared to a multi pin but like I said it’s downfall is the adjustments… thanks for watching man

Congrats, great hunt. My approach to the single pin with a 600 grain arrow is as follows. Leave it set at 25yds. From 5-25 yds aim heart. 30 yds aim double lung. 35yds aim top of back. Also, side note. I couldn’t help but notice your anchor was totally different on that first buck than it was on the second buck. That observation is based on your string to nose reference. Great buck.

I know you love all this advice. I use a 1 pin but I have it set at 20yrds and don’t touch it. I can shoot from 0 to 35yrds without moving it. Depending on the speed of your bow will decide your gaps. It takes practice and you have to know your bow, but in the whitetail woods it’s a better option than moving the pin when things are happening fast. If you practice, you can be very effective. Just a thought.
@Hogmister11
@Hogmister11 11 күн бұрын
I agree … I shoot a super heavy arrow so the gaps are pretty big between yardage… just 5 yards makes a big difference… I need to change sights or go to a faster arrow setup and focus more on FOC … one or the other..: thanks for the advice and thanks for watching
@bryancombs6307
@bryancombs6307 9 күн бұрын
I agree, certainly each to his own, they all work if you can shoot the set up accurately. However same here to, I use the single sight and never adjust for anything out to 35 yards. If the deer is 30 to 35 I hold the pin top 1/3rd of the deers body and it lands perfectly in the kill zone. Out to 25 yrds Im dead on with 20yd pin with my set up and not adjusting. That's what's has worked well for me for years., That said, I never shoot past 40 yards unless the animal is perfectly broadside, nothing in the way and he is standing still. That is the only time that I adjust my one pin site and furthermore, that perfect 50 yard standing still out in the wide open is a rarity!!! LOL Justin, enjoying watching your videos. Great stuff.
