Im the one with the D2 and the tyres on the roof. My ECU got wet and cut out. Cleaned it out and went back round for lap 2 successfully ahaha. Then my alternator failed on the way home😂

Is that an RX8 engine? Turbo’ing it makes me nervous for longevity, because exhaust gas temperatures would be a lot higher, would build at the side ports, and potentially cause early side seal spring failure. The heat would make the springs weak and flatten, and you’d lose compression. If an RX8 engine has a coolant seal failure, you’ll see it fail near the exhaust side ports, so we know heat locally there is an issue. The older 13B engines didn’t have this issue because the heat would be dispersed evenly from the center of the apex seal due to it’s peripheral ports. It could be fine or might not be. I always thought supercharging it with an intercooler on E85 would get around that issue and be a lot of fun.

It is a rx8 192 spec engine. Going to do some bits to it but the main thing is to get it in and driving. I do like supercharger noises. Is the exhaust temps that much different tho?

@@BlacksheepMotorsportTV​​⁠Yes, the exhaust temps will be quite different between a supercharger and a turbocharger. A turbocharger is a restriction in the exhaust system with a comparatively very large back pressure compared to NA or a supercharger. This increased pressure has to increase temperature (ideal gas law). EGTs will be hottest directly out of the port and there’d be a temperature gradient from the port to the turbine. I can’t get you exact numbers off the top of my head tho. Doing whatever means to decrease cylinder temps would be my primary. So low air intake temps with an intercooler, running E85, and not pushing timing super hard. Personally, I’d build my own turbo manifold with oversized and long runners, so the pressure drop would decrease temp too. Coupled with a smaller turbo so lag wouldn’t be an issue. But this is me being paranoid and there’s a lot of guys running turbos on their RX8’s in Facebook groups
