We are so far away from the rest of the world. When we have been off shore and are ready to come home Qantas played this tune as we neared Australia to welcome us home. No dry eyes. Still cry when I hear the song❤

We have spiders called Huntsmen where I live. They aren’t poisonous, but can be as big as the palm your hand. We only get one or two at a time. I leave them inside because they get the flies and other bugs. My kids were scared of them, but I started naming them and then they saw them as our pets. My neighbours’ little girl had to write a story at school about “The Bravest Person I Know”. She said it was me because, “Auntie Jackie comes to our house and gets the spiders and takes them outside”. (Her mother had a spider phobia). 😂

Best example I can use re our humour - I went on leave from work for 4 weeks. Pre-internet, we had small desk calendars - a day per page. The first thing I did when I got in to work was turn the calendar to the current date. There, in huge big red letters was written, “F&$k off Jackie. We didn’t miss you. “. Still laugh about it many years later.

I come from Bathurst, the really nasty crashes were from the Easter motor bike races, especially the sidecars.

Mornos and arvos - morning tea and afternoon tea. We also use rhyming slang - some is straight cockney rhyming and some is more localised. Like my grandad used to say "I'm going to have a dig in a grave at Gawler Place". "Dig in a grave" - shave. Gawler Place - face. And some people say "me old china". China plate. Mate. And the ladies have a "map of Tassie" or they used to, less common now.

I’m in my mid seventies and I’m totally against the date on which Australia Day is held. Happy to have a national day, but it should be held on another date - one on which we can all celebrate.

Agro's voice was Jamie Dunn who today works in radio in Brisbane. If you think Jamie was feeling up Anne Maree up under the table he wasn't for Jamie said he'd only have to grab Anne Maree on the ankle and she'd scream. Jamie still keeps Agro in the boot of his car and if people recognise him then he gets Agro out for a photo with them. Anne Maree Biggar said the show as very politically incorrect and couldn't be done today and the adult jokes went right over kids heads but the mums and dads got them and that's why kids with their parents watched the show. After Anne Maree left she had a successful career as a lifestyle show presenter. Now 62 she's a mum with grown up children of her own and Steven her one time flatmate is NOT her husband.

If my memory serves me right (which it doesn't) Negative Gearing was intended to encourage new house construction. I'm sure now it applies to new constructions only. Even so - the rental trap is now a real problem (hence so many young people living with parents). We really have to phase out negative gearing.
