You had better leave an opening in the door for air. If it is tightly closed you will die of asphyxiation.

It's too small to cover all of you the way you are trying to use it. Try TAPING TWO Mylar blankets together with some pliable duct tape to make one larger blanket

The two times I have had to use one of these blankets, bivouacked up on a alpine climb, they were all ripped by the morning. But they did help a bit, I put it mostly over my head a face and keep the wind off.

01. Every site I've seen has the the Bright Orange and/or Forest Green. If you can't find such a site, reply and I'll send you a link. 02. Don't where these mylar blankets etc directly against the skin or even thin clothing. The're great at reflecting RADIATED HEAT. They're also great at CONDUCTING HEAT.

@@MrBackpacker48 Search google, amazon, or walmart - mylar emergency poncho green -or- Temu or Aliexpress - emergency poncho Temu has one for only $2.90 each. I've used or seen these ponchos from a number sources, US an 4N. They're all made the same and from the same location in China. if you still can't find one, I'll by it for you...for a small handling fee, of course! 🙂

It occurs to me that even the cheapest, plastic, rain poncho over the mylar would be a significant improvement. The foil would be better held in place around you and the combination might provide some convective insulation as well as radiant insulation. Your thoughts/suggestions?

What about the condensation?
@ulperformance4087Ай бұрын
I make heat reflective clothing, breathable, wind and waterresistant/proof. My Anorak and overpants weigh a mere combined weight of 6.34 oz. They provide full coverage except for my hands which my heat reflective mittens cover for heavy wind, rain and snow. In 36 deg. F temp., I stayed comfortable hiking. I overheated while moving too fast. It took 10 min. to cool down as I moved slower. My point is that when used as a blanket, cold air and wind still affect the efficiency of the blanket. You need Tyvek 14-M. I purchase mine from Quest Outfitters. If capable of measuring, cutting and bonding material based on your best fitting clothing then you might consider making your own with the heat reflective Tyvek.

Cheap flimsy blanket that becomes worthless in the wind. If you can't keep it on what good is it. The better made ones with double layer don't reflect as well , but will keep you covered. Both will sweat from condensation, so clothing with a vapor barrier will keep you warmer when wrapped up in a survival situation.

How much is the totall investment. So the panels and battery combined ? How quickly does the battery degenerates and how long could you just have bought electricity from the grid ? I am not sure if the investment ever will pay itself.
@MrBackpacker482 ай бұрын
Well to begin with, We use this when the power is off. when the grid is down. No need to use when we have power. when you have 2 freezers full of meat it pays for itself. This system will run 2 freezers for about 10 hrs among other stuff. We have about 1500 dollars in to this a cheap price to pay when you have no power. Thanks for watching.

BTW these tests are fairly worthless because it’s not “full sun” but the intenseness of the sun also. There could be times you’ll get more ore get much less.
@MrBackpacker482 ай бұрын
The day I did this it was totally sunny not a cloud in the sky. But..It was in March and it was 50 degrees that could have something to do with the wattage. The test was not worthless to me. We just got them so I got to try them out to see how well they worked. Thank for watching.

400 of course it will .. if voltage is correct . It’s all math based on that 400 .. it’s actually a bit more just that they baseline it low so that you won’t or anybody & for there warranty there own backup protection.. 37.4 x11.5 = 430 watts

Being cold is ok. Being cold and wet is dangerous. These is the most important idea that all survivalists have adopted. So if condesation or leaks is a problem with a product dont use it.

I think that generator box is doing very well. It is doing exactly what it was designed for, to reduce the sound towards the house and stabilize the impact of the generator creating extra heat. Your common sense engineering was a very good upgrade to the system. Thank you for sharing this with us my friend. I will see you on the next one. PS- I wonder if one of the motorcycle or compact auto mufflers might work for a muffler if you can't find one in the generator parts selection?
@MrBackpacker483 ай бұрын
It seems to work really well. The heat seems to stay in the box for the most part. The fans do a good job pumping it out. I think your right a motorcycle muffle should work pretty good. I was actually looking at them today. Hey my friend I appreciate you watching and commenting on my videos, I really do... May some day this summer you can make over here and we can take the boat out and do some fishing. Take care.

Impressive generator box, best idea I've seen. I've been undecided what kind of enclosure to build for my generator, and have watched soooo many generator enclosure, youtube videos. Your generator box looks like the most practical solution for my situation. Looks like it would fit really well in my detached woodshed and save me from building another exterior shed. Can't wait to see more as you progress along with your build. Great job, and thanks for sharing.

Hey thanks, I just put the side fan in and insulated it. It works great. Soon to do another video. As soon as the weather gets better. I would not be afraid to put this in a small building or shed. you just have to be willing to cut some holes in it. Way cheaper when one of those plastic boxes. thanks and thanks for watching.

There's two of us in this bag. Me and Rustle. This thing makes more rustling noise than a cinema full of potato chip bags! You'll be kept warm, but awake every time you move. A small trade off for life saving comfort. Maybe pack a few disposable foam earplugs with it. In all goodness, I hope you never find the need to use it to save your life or anybody else's. Safety is peace of mind. Btw, pack a medium size microfiber gym towel with the ESB. You may need it to dry off in the event of wet weather.

Awesome idea, and great craftsmanship your doing on that project of yours.. definitely would have been a hell of a lot more work and probably a major pain in the ass, to have dug down and put that sucker in a pit so it sat down below your Floor :) probably would have hardly any sound and stayed cooler naturally.. but that would have been a major remodel.. keep up The good work man

Thanks Bud, Its working great. easy to disassemble for sure. The buckles work nice. The backer board doesn't let the heat out of the box. So it doesn't get a 110 deg in the pump house. The fans work great they push the hot air out of the box. We have the space in there we might as well use it. Thanks for watching.

Hey Buddy, it's great to hear from you again. I was kind of wondering if maybe you decided not to do KZfaq anymore. I am very glad that you didn't leave for good brother. I think you are building a very impressive structure for that generator my friend. It should serve you well. It should drastically reduce the noise that is coming from it, yes they can drive you crazy if you don't control it somehow. A pretty well thought out design I think. Thanks for showing it to us and doing such a thorough job explaining it to us. Take care, stay healthy and happy. See you on the next one. my friend.

Great test and thanks. Blue flame is more efficient than yellow flame. it's probably why Heet cooks faster than denatured alcohol so you need less of it so one could turn it off earlier because in the end, what matters most is that what we're cooking is cooked.

You wouldn't need to turn it inside out. Since it acts as a barrier to radiant heat from either direction. You'd probably want a different colour though. That orange is going to stand out like a saw thumb in daylight. If you got a really big one you could fill it with hot air. While the helicopter is looking down at the ground, you'd be hovering above them. So they'd never see you.

Hypothermia is literally the least painful way to die. And before anyone goes on about assisted suicide, remember this: pretty much everyone who survives a suicide attempt regrets trying to kill themselves. The reason why Canada gives people muscle relaxants is so that they physically can't say "stop" and ask to live. Really cruel when you think about it.
