I was sexually abused by my "father" from ages 4-12. When I was 12, I found the courage to tell my mother. That was 51 years ago. Ill never forget the trauma of her response which was "get out of here you liar" Finally at age 62, Im in therapy which gave me the courage to tell my mom recently that her response 51 years ago was as traumatizing as the sexual abuse. I told her I couldn't look at her because doing so reminded me of the abuse and betrayal. She called me yesterday to say she was sorry for what happened to me as a child, but said she didn't know about the abuse. How could a mother forget such a revelation?

I don't believe her. She becomes vague when she talks about her end of things. For example, when the boyfriend wanted her # , she said if you can find it, then he did. At no point did she tell her friend about it, nor did she say no to the guy. Need to hear the other side.

No adults believed, the teachers said yes we believe , but there's nothing we can do. In 1974 I started running away from home. I count myself very fortunate that the one (very minor) experience that I had with an adult, a stranger, who tried to groom me was unsuccessful and I was saved from having to go through the kind of hell that you have been through. Its not that men and boys arent raped, abused by someone within the famialy or family circle, BUT women and little girls along with men and little boys almost always are raped by males. Males are the problem, not the survivors. The time has been way over due for all males who rape within their families and outside of the family TO BE MADE ACCOUNTABLE. Otherwise these monsters just contunie to rape another child or adult. I strongly believe that incest and rape can be stopped. Heres How: all survivors who tell on the rapist or pedophile MUST BE BELIEVED and immediatly the rapist or pedophile must be removed from the survivor. The rape kits, if one was done, Must Be At the Highest Priority for being processed. Then they must ALWAYS be arrested, convicted abd serve on the 1st offense 15 years with NO parole. A 2ns offence is 30 years without oarole. Once released, and they always are, a R(fir rapist) must BE BRANDED on their faces so everyone knows what theyve done and no innocent child, women or man will ever allow them near them. Survivors suffer ALL their lives, it is TIME to nake rapist accountable their whole lives for what they have done. Lastly, we as a world and as a society Must Value children , women as Much as we seem to value these monsters who almost always are of the male gender. This is the ONLY WAY to stop incest/pedophiles and rapists in our sociiety and world.

Very similar, I was violently raped at the age of 4 babysitters son 18, Thank you for your bravery, I could have let this destroy me, but I chose to fight it and live. Nothing was ever done, but much later in life, my mother admitted what a terrible choice she made sending me to that babysitter. I had blocked it out, until, one day when I was 28, 62 now, my mother brought up the babysitters name, somehow it all came back into my memory. Your story had tears pouring, had me remember, why did this happen, I was such an innocent little kid.
