@@TheLooseCannon82 that was the point of this video because it’s skin on so why would I go through the work of scaling it? And yes after realizing how good it was I wouldn’t marinate it. Was just an idea. I like experimenting new ways of cooking stuff, and will continue to do that. 🤷‍♂️

Nice theory, but this fish was caught in 2 feet of water. Full of eggs is why it’s so thick.

@@JacksonBaumgartOutdoors Not a problem took us awhile to figure that out as well we usually just burry the rod tip sideways in the water it helps a bunch. Good luck to you guys.

Also by keeping the rod horizontal with the water you can also limit the we😮guts and hook from coming back and hitting you in the eye. Sun glasses a must. A guide at our outfitter lost eye last year week before we got there. Someone had rod high and he just lowered his glasses. I’ll be there in 26 days.

These fish return to spawn and then die. So all of them are technically bearers. Sports fishing, and usually commercial fishing, help keep numbers in check as it's dangerously close to having too many fish reproduce due to commercial fishing closures.

Thanks. What do you mean waders with boots? These waders have wader boots. I have other ones but these tend to be more comfortable and offer more secure of footing which is important in the fast flowing water of the Kenai.

@JacksonBaumgartOutdoors my apologies. It looked as though these waders were separate from the boots so to me it looked like water could leak in. I am a newbie to Alaska fishing. Looking forward to a real world education.

@@carolbarranco838yes so these ones have a neoprene socking area and then you wear a separate wading boot for more support. If you’re just getting into it you’ll be fine with any waders though. Good luck if you go!

Fill me in on what I’m doing wrong? My dad has been going to Alaska for 30 years and this was my 5th time going and this technique works great for us 🤷‍♂️

This is without a doubt, thee best display of ethical “flipping” for salmon I have probably ever seen on youtube! No back swing, (kenai twitch), no high sticking, very smooth and a gentle pick-up, or retrieve, what ever you wanna call it. Some anglers will claim to not snag but when u watch their videos they are absolutely snagging. You sir are doin it exactly the way it’s suppose to be done!! Much respect to your technique! @@Back2Life1 dude thank you for that!! 🙏 I got a kick out of that comment above also so had to respond. Half the people I usually see there seem to be purposely snagging opposed to just letting the natural drift happen. Next time I’m back I plan on bringing the fly rod for them.
