you first need to have a printer that supports a borderless option. not every printer does that

Hi, it's me again & I'm at my wit's end! ;) What printer do U have? I just bought the Epson ET 8550 & it's supposed to print borderless, but so far I can't get anything to come up with the option. I tried to do it in Adobe Reader because I made the invitation in Procreate, two cards on one 8-1/2" x 11" paper to cut in half & saved it as a pdf file so it wouldn't change any of the settings. I'm so frustrated, I'm ready to make the invitations I need with a border & return the printer, but I know there has to be a way. I can't print the file from Procreate because it's on a iPad & will only air print & with air print, there are no drivers so I get a very limited printer dialogue box. Thank you SO much, I'm really hoping you'll be able to help me. I just bought this for my few little things I like to play around with so it's a very expensive toy I can't get to work right.

It doesn’t really matter what program. It’s the print setting when you get ready to print. I am using PowerPoint in this video

Thank you so much! I kept thinking I was saving my pdf incorrectly from Canva even though I was following all the steps correctly. I was messing up with my printer settings and this fixed my issue.

Be careful with borderless printing as it will shorten the printer's lifespan. Print heads touching the edge of the paper will damage the head, and ink printed on the border will spill and stick to the printer's interior. Your printer will start to have more quality issues, and once the printer's firmware determines the set amount of ink has stuck to the printer's waste ink tank (just a sponge lined inside the printer and not serviceable), the printer will lock up itself and will stop working. Even professional printers doing "full bleed printing" rely on printing on oversized paper and then physically trimming the paper to the correct size.

Have you used Rocketbook? Turns paper into digital. You can even get free printable pages that you can print. I am using TUL which is like Arc, Disq, and Happy Planner because I can customize it. I added Rocketbook pages to mine.

Congratulations, Melinda! Excellent video and content! I retired after 30 years (15 as a teacher, 15 as an Elementary Principal) in the same district as age 53 in 2019. Like you mentioned, I pay for my health insurance (until age 65). I left on my own terms during a positive school year. I coach new principals (via Zoom), which I love and enjoy planning my days. You are doing the right thing by retiring at a young age after a successful career! I look forward to hearing about your new adventures. Enjoy the last months of your career while you look forward to the future!

It is so good to see you! I'm excited for you and what the future holds. I'm only 16 years in (teaching) and I long for peace and time. I am not able to print without border. I do not have the option that you showed. I have the epson 2720. I am at my wits end trying to find the borderless option on this thing. In seetings I see the setting that says borderless but it is off with no option to turn it on. Thanks for doing this video.

I was thinking about buying the 2720 but will not until I can verify it does borderless. My current printer (HP) cuts off 1/2 inch of digital images just on one end. Messes up any journal pages I print. I have read that with Epson, you must select glossy photo paper and then also select a photo size, like 5x7, not 8.5x11 like I need. I will continue the search.

I use S’more for my “Crew’s News”. To help with the searching for past topics, I have a Google Doc that is housed in a shared folder with a table that has the date of the memo, a bullet list of topics covered and a quick link to that week’s memo. (The tricky part is keeping up with it, but it is just one of the things on my reoccurring checklist each week.)

Melinda, thanks for all you do to support and celebrate fellow principals. Know how much it is appreciated. I've been using a SMORE for staff newsletters for the past 3 years. I have a "Here's What's Up This Week" section, Staff Shout Outs and Celebrations, Important Dates (for the month) and Tidbits (blogs, articles resources). Know that I was one of those principals who would often look at your Miller Memo for ideas. I miss it since you switched to SMORE, but it's not about me.....😅

My instructional coach and I meet weekly. She brings me info from district curriculum and I bring the perspective of how and when to present to teachers.
