This would be more convincing if the presenter showed studies or data instead of just making claims. It's literally his word against the claims of those he's trying to debunk. Why should we believe your claims over theirs?

one disagreement/misunderstanding with a colleague & tension till you leave the darn place. Do listen to the red flags 🚩 of a workplace. it you don’t get out voluntarily, you will be kicked out eventually - because that’s how dysfunctionality works😂. What should make you stay? It’s usually not worth it…change itself seems daunting/dreadful/an ordeal…but it never is. its just a walk around the block. 👍

I suffered depression when I was 16 after my father died in a traumatic way…I suffered 2 years and it finally lifted, and I haven’t suffered from it since…so I guess maybe it was a situational type depression not chronic? I really feel for people who suffer with depression. I will never forget the hopeless feeling. The only way of escape for me back then was sleep. Though I have not suffered with it since…it’s always with me as a sad memory.

What is this talk even about? Really? I Mean, withing what context is this? Everyday we go in and out of Self-Induced Hypnosis Automatically. From the time we wake up to the time we Fall Asleep at night. It's a natural state our brains fluctuate through. Not to mention the external sources that penetrate and hijack our inner terrain. Our thoughts, our own inner voice. Much has already been embedded and embedded itself into our psyche from the time we were born. So yes, hypnosis is dangerous. We are already a product of it.

The danger is humans. Anyone can behave in the most terrible ways due to the context (social pressures, ideologies, opinions, leadership...). Just look at History - wars, genocide, politics, religions, fanaticism, etc.

Rumination is the issue once you’ve been through something traumatic. You need the presence of mind and then disciplined enough to limit going over the issue again and again. That frees you and enables to move forward again. Been there, now it’s in the past! Inevitably it’s up to you to make the right decisions to get going again. Good luck people. You can do it!☺️😊👍

I dream in color. I can feel in my dreams. So much so, I can see the dust reflecting in the air from the sun rays piercing into my childhood window. There are always people around. Family and friends, and I am always in the mix and engaged. I can go anywhere I want to, even the places I can never go to again. I FEEL happy…. And then i wake up

All medicine can and has been abused. Medications alter the mental state and can harm or cure. I don't see the point of this talk except to isolate and disparage one specialized branch. Seems like sniping.

Where is the evidence? this guy didn't cite one study. On the flip side, there are literally thousands of studies regarding the efficacy and positive benefits of therapeutic and medical hypnosis. Anything can cause harm, if that is your intention, or if you're not properly trained. For the average person, taking someone down into a relaxed state of deep inner focus and telling them good things about themselves is not dangerous. The worst that will happen is that they'll "manipulate" you (I say this with tongue in cheek humor) into having more confidence, higher self esteem, being more resourceful, and feeling better about yourself overall, as opposed to you "manipulating" yourself to do the opposite.

The question will be. Can hypnotherapy damage be undone? And how people can feel ever safe again after meeting dangerously inadequate practitioner? It's easy and "fun" to talk about all the dangers and errors. What about the solutions.

I have bipolar II. My sleep is AWFUL. I am tired 24/7. Every blue moon I receive a burst of energy/ happiness. But most of the time I live in the realm of melancholy. I wake up sleepy and tired. My dreams are like movies. Sometimes I feel as though I can smell and taste things. I don’t have many nightmares but my dreams can be so intense. Once I had a dream my daughter died. I was wrecked with so much grief in my dream I started crying in the waken world and my husband had to wake me up. It seems like a never ending struggle for good sleep and being able to wake up feeling refreshed. Even now I just woke up from a nap and I feel awful. I am so sleepy and drained. Some people say it’s diet issues. Trust id rather give up food than feel like this everyday.

Hypnosis is natural. If you have a pulse & a CNS (Centeral Nervous System) Hypnosis is natural because it isnt JUST occuring in the REM state. It is how we learn. It is how we are all programmed to make a spontaneous purchase(s). The handheld devices keeping us all in a light trance have us hypnotized. Hypnosis has many names, including imagination. Which is what we all had when we were younger & playing with sticks that would magically be a gun. Until we were called a couple of times inside the house. Which was us having to snap out of our natural trance/hypnosis state.

always looking forward to talks with Joe &/or Ivan! btw, are there resources on helping a family member get off 30+ years of useless psych meds? He had went in for sleeplessness/anxiety… I did try to help by taking him to India to wean him off some years ago & planned on shaving off his pills bit by bit, but miraculously, once on the plane & landed, he was fine after a few days with no pills. Came back after 6months. He got agitated at home & sadly, mother couldn’t handle it & put him back on meds. He’s in state facilities & seems half dazed, walking nonstop & talking for only a few minutes. How do we help? Family isn’t cohesive enough to embrace his home coming. I’m the only hopeful/willing helper. I’ve heard psilocybin can help rapidly…

Very disappointing video. Lots of errors. Human Givens uses a lot ideas from Milton Erickson (one of the greatest hypnotherapists) and uses Guided Imagery in most sessions, which is full of hypnosis techniques. Misleading. Huge amounts of peer reviewed research shows how well hypnosis can work. The presenter just has a gripe with his son, who is a famous hypnotherapist and hypnotherapy trainer.

This is so interesting. I immediately dream as soon as I am asleep. Whether it’s a 10 minute nap or 12 hours. And I always feel exhausted. Not to mention as soon as I sit down I end up dosing. And the total lack of motivation is really disturbing. I’ve been diagnosed depressed for 13 years but only lately have I actively been noticing not deriving any joy from activities I used to. Feeling nothing. And that doesn’t help one want to get out of bed
