Expect about 5 weeks from inoculation to harvest. Patience is a virtue.

Because that layer is there to catch mold spores before they reach the moist brf and ruin your work. Obviously that isn't enough so people use micropore tape now.

I'm not to sure where I went wrong here but likely agar work would have helped alot

Hey sorry for the late response. If I could do anything different it would be learning agar teks before trying to fruit. Isolating the genetics is what I think is key to getting bigger fruits.

Im fairly new to growing mushrooms. I inoculated about 20 so days ago and I haven’t really seen any growth. What do you guys think I should do?

@@frisco9568 whats your growing medium for the mycelium? did you sterilize it or pasteurize ? did y0u dry whatever you used enough? also did you wait until it was completely cooled to room temperature before innoculation? lol lots of questi0ns sorry! mushrooms in all stages of life are temperature sensitive. but if you did all those things wait it out! sometimes they take a while. if you know someone with mycelium agar thats your absolute best bet for colonizing mycelium. you never know what your gonna get with liquid culture really but with agar its usually spawned from a genetically superior mushroom and its a sure bet most of the time.

@@earthchild5346 Im using corn for my grain spawn. At the moment I see what looks to be mycelium, but I can also be confusing it with condensation. Idk it’s been about 20 something days and I still haven’t seen it growth as much.

I'm a beginner here but from what I've read, spore syringes generally need around 5 days to germinate to even begin producing mycelium growth. Depending on temperature some may go quicker than others. Don't give up on those jars! If 2 weeks go by and you don't see anything then there's probably something wrong. I've been having the same problem, I inoculated 4 jars on january 1st and its now january 9th and I've had only two tiny patches in two jars. I asked on a discord and they told me just to wait cause spores are unpredictable

There are many things that can slow growth. It being too cold is the most common, but contamination and improper injection of the spores are also causes.

@Kev well, it isn't THAT high pressure, it's really only about double what atmospheric pressure is

I use a canner pot and works great 1/2 pints at 90 mins medium boil so it's steaming good

I would get them somewhere warmer like 80-83 degrees. It took me 4 days to see a pea sized mycelium bunch.
