Discovered this band by a TV show on Belgium TV in 2013; my oldest son Remco was very sick and ill and died 2 months later because of bone cancer at the age of 16. The TV special was on TV while in the hospitalroom with my dear Remco. He was there for treatment. The Editors' lyrics, music and Smith's voice always be connected with that period of time....❤🖤🤍

I just wonder if this song is about the fallen in both WW1 and WW2. It's of course just my own interpretation, but it feels as if he is talking about how all those men were sent to their deaths and how they died in loneliness and far away from their loved ones. And the soldier's gestures at the end makes me think of all the horrible ways they must have died, all the possible ways of dying. I have massive love and respect for this song, and I adore Editors.
